Sputtering is to MUCH FUEL. So set it like this at first: Turn the fuel ratio mixture clockwise UNTIL it stops THEN turn it COUNTER CLOCKWISE 2 1/2 turns and try that setting; Now remember when and if it acts up starts to bog or sputter BACK OFF THE THROTTLE 1/4 of an INCH and HOLD IT THERE. Pay attention to what the motor does: 1. If it speeds up it is LEANS NEEDS a little more fuel. 2. If it Sputters and or just settles down it is RICH to much fuel. Alleyoop Good news. After I put on the electric pump, the scooter was running better but had a top speed of 55 or so. On the way home yesterday it starting running very poorly. I put another intake tube on it, from the air box to the carb, and zoom! I got 69 MPH today. It felt good to finally get a little speed out of this thing! Now I know the true power of "The Dark Side!"

Personally, I think the best way to go would be one of those locomotive horns. Everyone and their dog will get out of your way. =) I like the youtube videos of guys blasting the air horn in their truck at unsuspecting passersby. Some laugh, some get mad, but they all jump! It's mean yet funny!

Added 6 very light coats of clear lacquer this morning. Temps were a bit cold, so I got more fisheye than I expected. Got a lot of wet sanding to look forward to tomorrow before polishing. Here's a pic of the helmet with the scooter, it's a tad lighter, but I'm pretty happy with it: I would try wet sanding and polishing tonite, but with the low temps, I think it's best to let it cure overnight first. Nice work, Jerry! Good match! What type of paints did you use?

Okay guys. I couldn't take the purple feathers, the green beak, and the stupid chicken eyes anymore. I did some goofball engineering. I used a little all weather red tape, some reflective tape, and black tape on the purple fender, and down the undersides below the footrest to conceal the purple feathers. What do you think? I don't care if it looks like hillbilly engineering. I'd rather it looked tacky than look like it's Ru Paul's personal scoot. Nice save. You made it manly plus you can still give your wife the bird. You are happy, the wife is happy, it's all good!

Almost all scooters have the vin number on the front frame member. There is usually a rectangular piece of the body panel that pops out to make it visible for inspection. The vin has to be on the frame somewhere, the frame is what is legally registered, all other parts can be changed, but the frame stays with the vin. Thanks. This one also has a sticker, on the frame, under the seat. The bad news is I already popped the trunk lock. The good news is a whole set of locks was under $60 and took about a half an hour to install, plus I got a bonded title. I hope the DMV doesn't have any problem with that or the company I got it from. The bike needs a few more parts and it will be ready to go. I think when I am done I will have about half, or a little more than half, of what it's worth into it. I just saw a decent Goldwing for $1,000 and I hear there might be a good deal on a 750 Shadow around. The Goldwing has nice luggage but it's huge. I like scooters but frankly I don't feel safe on these things and I'm always worried about what's going to break or malfunction next. I think I'd feel a lot better about riding some Jap-Scrap and going on a long cruise. I'm just going to miss the CVTs. Still, I would like to ride a Morphous and a Burgman. Maybe those would be of better quality and handling than the ones I have ridden so far. Those Burgmans are really expensive though.

My Qlink Commuter (same company & scoot) had the VIN under the seat. Thank you. I see now there's a sticker on the bar where the seat locks in. Good to know.

If you've ever wondered how to find out how much juice your vehicle is eating while it's "asleep", and why, then watch this video by "Eric the Car Guy". In this video Eric is looking for what's killing the battery on a car while it is shut off. He shows us how he easily finds the offending circuit, and it should apply very well to scooters.

So my girlfriend convinced me months ago that we need a puppy. Well, she was right anyway. This dog is so energetic and sweet it's unreal. I got some new equipment for my action cam and I wanted to test how well it stabilized the camera, so she was the perfect test subject. HAHAHA! Now you have to call her "Empress"!

Pay attention to what the motor does: 1. If it speeds up it is LEANS NEEDS a little more fuel. 2. If it Sputters and or just settles down it is RICH to much fuel. Alleyoop I tried it again today and I get the same thing. It cuts in and out at open throttle at about 50 mph. According to your trick of the trade, I'd say it's running rich, however I get the occasional pop when I shut the motor off. The mixture screw is now at one turn out. The good news is that my electric fuel pump arrived today. I put it on and the cutting out has stopped. Top speed was 55. I think the qlink manual said that was the top speed but I really expected 60+. That said, I now have to deal with the shuddering on takeoff and the steering. I think the shuddering might be the clutch. I should have taken it apart and inspected it while I was replacing the variator. The steering is downright scary. Ever since I got the bike, the wheel wants to turn hard right or hard left when making low speed turns. That is, if I were to let go of the handlebars, the bike would turn hard and kill me. It has always felt weird, for the whole two months I have had it. I feel vibrations in the handlebars that just don't feel right. Today, I tried letting go of the bars at about 20-25 mph and it shimmied rapidly back and forth. That's my highest priority right now. I don't know what to look for, exactly, but something ain't right.

Has anybody else had trouble with any aftermarket horns? I upgraded to the Fiamm freeway blaster a long time ago but it doesnt always work for me its like it has to be positioned perfectly or something. The way it works for me is that I cant really crank the mounting bracket down real tight or let the horn touch anything like the frame or whatever and even then it doesnt work all the time but while im testing it I could usually get it in to a position where it will work if i give it a light tap with a screwdriver or wrench or something. Then it will work most of the time while im riding. I thought it was a fluke maybe a defective horn or something until I had to replace a car horn so I got a Blazer highway blaster basically the same design and tried that on the scooter and had the same problem. not sure what the deal is with them maybe somebody else knows Im stumped. shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/fiamm-freeway-blaster-high-note-horn-7210223/6200014-P I bought one of these for my last scooter www.ebay.com/itm/Digital-Electric-12V-Siren-Loud-Air-Snail-Horn-magic-18-Sounds-Car-Truck-Vehicle-/261159569648It's very loud, makes 18 different horn sounds, and comes with a relay or relay/controller. Worked great.

Yup,, I noticed even 99% of the free flow designs are restricted in the first few inches from the head,,i dont know why they do that?? I will have somebody build me a 1-1/4" header sooner or later,,thats really the best way,,then you can utilize any silencer you want like a Supertrapp,DG,Two Bro's,or Yosh...thats what I would do... My silencer if you want to call it that is only LOUD when Im hard on the fuel,,when I cruise it just thumps away,,but if I am going up a hill its pretty loud also..I like it cause when I pull up along side a Harley they look at me like,,what the heck is this thing with a funny smirk on their face,,its funny watching their face change when I pull away on them out of the hole...lmao!!!! Not bad for a little 150...huh..lol Most of the free flow pipes I see are pretty much a straight pipe with a drilled baffle,,the baffle is the same size as the head pipe but its got hundreds of holes drilled in it,,then they pack fiberglass around the outside of the baffle inside the silencer can to help absorb SOME of the noise, they work well.Same principal as an old skool glass pack or cherry bomb for muscle car. The small restriction in the header has to do with pressure. It makes the exhaust expand just after the restriction and creates higher exhaust gas velocity in the restricted area. I think it is supposed to suck more air/fuel in when the intake valve opens or something like that and/or creates back pressure.

Yea that is what I want to see how it now runs at WOT AND AT WHAT RPMS. He has not done that yet, so we don't know if its fixed or if it still has a problem. If it acts up then do like Jersey said whine the sucker up and WHEN it acts up back off the throttle about 1/4 of a inch and hold it there. Then pay attention to what the motor does: 1. If it speeds up it is LEAN needs more fuel 2. If it just sputters some more and or settles down then it is RICH to much fuel. This trick of the trade will tell you what the motor needs IF it acts up it may just now run fine. Alleyoop It goes 50mph at 5600rpm and then begins to sputter again. It stops sputtering when I let off the throttle a little. 48 is about as fast as I can go before it starts sputtering again. Better than it was, where I could barely get to 45mph and now the sputtering isn't as harsh. I'd say it feels boggy. I'm also getting poor gas mileage. I'm going to readjust the mixture screw, or whatever that screw is on the bottom of the carb, and maybe drop the jet size. My new electric fuel pump will be here tomorrow, so I may hook that up too, and see what difference it makes. I have seen the gas coming out of my current pump line and I'd say the pressure is too low, but from what you are saying, and the fact that there is gas in my intake, I'm thinking I'm running too rich, and possibly suffering fuel starvation as well. What do you think causes the sputtering?

You might try to find the odd bits on ebay. There is a coolant overflow bottle there now that has the rubber part, it is a bit pricey though. But the best bet for that part I think is here: www.alpha-sports.com/Parts/c_2007-2011fashion.htm?q=cfmoto-partsAt the left side of the page, click on cooling and you will be taken to the diagram page. The reservoir tank cap is part#12 on the diagram. They have the reservoir tank cap for $2.70 It looks like your handlebars are different than the Honda though. And I didn't see the handle bar parts like you have there at any of the CF Moto parts suppliers I looked at, so I don't know what to say about that. Thank you. I got a rubber coolant cap on ebay. I think now I still need a lower left rear body piece that goes over the CVT, and a chrome throttle grip cap. I got a variator for it but I took that for my bike, so I may have to get another one. I think I'm about finished though. Just in time for tax rebate season. I did buy a used panel piece but it is not an exact match. It was a good deal though. I may use it if I can make it look decent to match the bike.

When I am on the road it cuts out at about 45mph, or was, and I have to back the throttle off to make it stop cutting out. We were typing at the same time or whatever but I just read what you said the above sentence. On the road at what mph does it start to cut out now? It didn't cut out with the new variator on it. I will put the tach on it and make a top speed run tomorrow and see what happens.
