i can't view the video. however, the "bendix" is ALWAYS engaged with the starter, it uses a "one way" gear.
since you said the engine had a lot of mods, it will be difficult for anyone to offer much help.

who is the best? in my not so humble opinion, it boils down to 2 giants in the field. parts for scooters and scrappydog. both of these fantastic dealers are absolute ACES ! both offer an excellent selection of parts and fast dependable delivery. i've dealt with both of them.
the competition between these 2 gives YOU the buyer top notch service. both have been in the ring for a long time, neither shows any sign of wear.
if PFS or scrappy doesn't have the part you need, then they don't make it, it's that simple.

i guess the answer would depend on how big the engine is. for true mopeds and speeds less than about 35MPH a sealant probably wouldn't hurt. if however you have 150 or above then the safest course would be to replace them. don't forget, you only have 2 wheels, not 4. a blowout at highway speeds can be disastrous.

i wanna scoot, but it's broken. poor thing, been over a year since she ran. there comes a time when we must do what we have to. i have no choice my sweet but to get a new engine.
