Welcome Stan!!!
I would start with the basics. Did you static time it correctly? Are you getting spark? Are all the grounds back and tight?

I have seen them run 30vac cranking and 70 at idle. However you have it in front of you.

Lost no spec for oem or standard either. That stator you got from Amazon? What does the vendor say?

Except to note that I have been burning ethanol-blend (5-10%) gas for 20 years, in vehicles older than your Taurus (oldest I'm certain of is my 1979 Cadillac), with a grand total of zero problems.
Braging about a GM product in the experemental years. Is that the HT4100 or was it changed for the olds 307?

is it running??
73vac cranking no load is good so is 40 loaded.
I suspect it might be your coil, not real sure here. I have come across this type problem in the past I would like to see what you come up with. I have also used a dci to rule out stator charge coil.

What belt are you using? I had my bout with cheap Charles. Especially with a Big Bore Kit you need a quality belt. How much are you spending on a belt and what brand?

Gee I find without doing a valve lash adjustment, I can't get a carb dialed in. Hard hot starts points to valves.

electrical parts you buy it you own it. Exploite seller/buyer protections you might be able to pick the vendors pocket.
Hey plenty of buyers do it, they will buy a dc cdi install it in an ac ignition system. Burn it out and make the vendor pay for it, because the site has a policy. If the buyer says blah the vendor takes it up the rear/get his/her pocket picked.
Just my experiance .

I was using e free fuel for a while. Till the guy at work retired. He lived a few miles from the e free station. I can't do 160 miles round trip. So i'm back to e gas. If i had choice I would do the e free.
