yeah, but still, there's a limit that a 125cc can do. I believe it matters little if the bike is chinese, or japanese. 125cc is still 125cc. It's less than 150cc, but because of direct fuel injection compared to the vacuum suction of a carb bike, I think the two should compare closely, or have very similar performance. Unless a scoot like that is super aerodynamic, it's hard to see it top out at 60+ MPH. The least bit of wind, or uphill will eat away all MPH's. There's a limit on what anything can do and debating what we think or might not think it can do is not the issue here. The OP has asked for help on trying to see why the scooter is actually slower than the 62 MPH you mentioned and suggestions as to how to help him increase his top end is what he has asked for. Now given the facts that he gave us that the scooter has not been shown any TLC and that it has quite a few miles on it at 15k tells us that he needs to continue doing some of the things he is doing as far as getting the scooter back in good shape. The poor condition he found it in hasn't helped his cause and a good fuel cleaning additive may also help his situation. After he does all of the things he can and it shows no improvement then I would suggest that he check the engine for compression and this will tell us if the 15k in miles plus the poor PM has decreased the engines top level of performance and he will have to decide to live with it and ride on or possibly re-work the top end for a better engine top end. In comparing any two scooters that are not the same as far as weight, style, fuel delivery one cannot accurately say that it should or should not perform like any other scooter. The difference between 125cc and 150cc is so slight that at the most 1 MPH would be the difference. This scooter is small and compact and may out run some 150cc larger scooters? It's like with any engine one can take and change the variables on a apples for apples scooter and they will not top out the same. One cannot own a scooter in Florida and tell one that it will perform exactly the same in Washington state. In this case his scooter is apples and the 150 you mentioned is oranges. Another suggestion that may help a little is replacing the possibly worn rollers with sliders of the right weight. JR

This scooter doesn't have the same engine or characteristics of a Chinese GY-6 and the top end should exceed the GY-6 by about 8MPH if all is correct.
This engine has PGM-FI electronic fuel injection along with digital transistorised electronic advanced igniton which alone makes it out perform a typical carb GY-6 Chinese engine.
Add small size, light weight and 13" tires if all is well it'll do in the high 60's and actually be in the high 60's unlike a lot of Chinese 150's that claim to go this fast.
This is a fine scooter.

Then this has proboably taken it's toll and I'll look to see if I have a manual on this scooter to see if there are any other recommendations for this problem. You might consider adding a recommended amount of a fuel cleaning solution to the gas tank, here people use a product that some will tell you is the best and it's called Seafoam. Good stuff. JR

Very doubtful unless they were really worn enough to not properly push the belt out enough? Do you know the specs on the rollers? if so then the only way to know how bad they are is to open her up again and measure the OD of them.
Have you considered a good carb cleaning, at 15k in miles it could have tarnish buildup and such which can hamper the engine. Also need to remember 15k is a few miles and if the PM was good on the previous owner then the engine should still be tight with good compression but if the PM was suspect this can add to loss of MPH.
Little things also have an affect, rider weight, carb adjustment, even tire pressure has an affect. Little things can add up to a loss of overall MPH and be frustrating also. Have you checked the sparkplug to see if it's running rich or lean, this can have an affect on it. ?

Ok I don't get it? What's so special about Tide? First of all I don't use it because my wife is a nurse and she has sensitive skin and for some reason she breaks out if her clothes are washed in Tide. Second it's too expensive! I really don't believe it cleans clothes any better than others, but maybe I'm wrong? So are they using this stuff for other than what it's made for?

Hey folks I just moved this thread and it's a great thread and does in fact allow members to just say "hey I did this or look at this" and is fun for members who like to talk about everything so that's why it fits better in the no scooter zone.
Thanks JR

Folks I stickied this for the time being. Even though we have a place to put out photos in this is more like a memory of the board in past days and I was touched by Jim's video. Lot's of past memories and good times. I'm sure Jim didn't come across my scooter or ugly mug so I can't let old Doug out do me! Here's a picture of my main ride with the saddlebags I installed, myself: Here's a recent picture of myself and my granddaughter at a football game: You can see where she gets her good looks from! She is a trip to keep up with along with her brother. Some know that I'm raising two of my grandkids along with my 17 year old stepson. Pee Wee basketball just ended, baseball and softball about to begin and they both are very talented in all sports along with good students. Man I never at this age thought I would be doing homework and going to parent/teacher conferences again. Keeps you busy to say the least! Also if things work out there is the possibility that Doug and I will meet up this June in California. I have a stepdaughter who is married to a Marine in California and we are going to go see them and take the grandkids to Disneyland and Doug is not too far from there and no before you ask we will not be posing with Mickey Mouse together! Sorry I didn't see this earlier, I moved it to the dealer section where it can continue. Sounds like they're taking lessons from WalMart. I shop around like a lot of people but it's not always about the price. I use ebay for a lot of everyday things. Example I have this cheap but powerful little 24v drill I bought at harbor freight a while back, one I needed a little drill like this for small jobs, two they were giving a little free volt meter with it and my old faithful bit the dust after 20 years of service.
I'm building a custom porch swing out of cedar and this drill is perfect for putting the screws in. The other day the 24v battery charger transformer took a hit when the electricity went off and on due to bad storms, dead as a hammer. Harbor freight has no replacement, now we're talking about a $20 drill. Found a universal 24v transformer on ebay for $4 shipping and all, not a bad deal.
I shop at the local Harps in my local town for groceries, the kind of store that still sends the weekly sale paper to you every week, go buy their specials but if I get there and they are out of the sale item I take the paper to walmart and make them price match it, they will do this, figure they advertise it so I'm going to make them do what they say.
I wouldn't worry about the guys who pull this stunt on ebay, sooner or later things like this catch up with you, take care of the customer and they don't mind paying a reasonable extra amount IMO.

Now let me see if I got this right: There's the orginal Scoot Dawg which was started by Lee . Then there is Scooter Rebel started by someone who didn't agree with Lee Then there is Scooter Professor started by JR ,who didn't agree with ANYONE. ;D Then there is Scooter Doc started by Rich to avoid the drama Then there is Scoot Dawg Net started by FOL (Friends of Lee) Then there is "It's the Ride" started by NFOL ( Not Friends of Lee) and Terri Lee posts as a female on all of them . Did I get this all straight? Cookees want to act like a snowflake take it elsewhere, this is just one of the reasons among many that the forum is moving. Want to be a member with something beneficial to say and help people then by all means jump right in, but if you want to just have the urge to post nonsense then take it to places that like your kind of drama. At this point it's your choice if you want to be a part of this forum, any more of this nonsense then it'll not be your choice. JR
