No I did mean a headlight switch. There are 4 different wiring versions of this Reflex copy and one does have a on/off headlight switch. Now that I know he does not have one I know which version it is. Myself and two other people have spent countless hours going through the wiring system on this scooter and have took the poor generic diagram they send with this scooter and have redrawn them to fit each scooter. One version has a on/off headlight switch, one version doesn't have the blocking diode, each one of the 4 has a few things different.
Later on when we start putting diagrams on this forum you'll see them all, in the mean time if you need one you can check at Professor. Not pushing another forum, lets make that clear but it is a fact they are there and I will be putting them here too, got lost of things to put in.
Back to the OP problem and my first check is still the same, it's a bad connection and got to be opened up and checked, it's the first process of elimination on an electrical gremlin. I'm not one to tell people to start replacing this or that until they check the things that cost nothing and make sure it's not a simple loose wire instead.
Many a person has a bag full of "I didn't need to buy this" stuff when all it was to begin with was a bad, loose or corroded wire.

Thanks for the kind words Terrilee and like all the forums around we were glad to help and keep Chrissy running. But we only provided guidance and you did the work so give yourself the deserved credit also. It's going to be the same here, people helping people, if you ask elsewhere too then that's also OK, main thing is when one does get their scoot going is to share the knowledge and credit all with their efforts which makes for a friendly place among all forums and their members.

No stator problem because if it's charging and lights are bright then the stator is fine along with the R/R. Since you took it apart and changed bulbs this sounds like the classic "you have a bad connection in the wiring." This is very easy to do when pulling the front off and then putting it back together. More than likely you have a very bad ground connection in the blinker/flasher circuit, reason I say this is the "it works fine if I push the brakes." thing.
Now these Chinese plugs are famous for one wire or pin getting pushed partly out when plugging and unplugging them. It could also be in the plugs of the left switch assembly because the turn signal switch is on the same assembly along with the horn.
Question, some Jonways have a headlight on/off switch some don't, does this one have one? This tells me more on which model you have because there are four different versions with different wiring diagrams including the European version.
You've got a loose/bad wire connection gremlin and start with going through the grounds.

There was a bit of confusion at Ace Hardware this morning. When I was ready to pay for my purchases of gun powder and bullets the cashier said, "Strip down, facing me."
Making a mental note to complain to Fox News about the gun registry people running amok, I did just as she had instructed.
When the hysterical shrieking and alarms finally subsided, I found out that she was referring to my credit card.
I have been asked to shop elsewhere in the future.
They need to make their instructions to us seniors a little clearer!

Thank you for the kind words and suggestions Terrilee. Right now Doug and I are concentrating on building the structure and framework of this new site for Scootdawg and at this point no other help as far as moderators are needed. You can get too many cooks in the kitchen. Now don't worry as the forum starts growing and we know it will we will have to appoint moderators to help and take care of any conflicts that may arise. Hopefully they'll be far and few between because we don't have to talk about the fact of they seem to be several lately but it'll all pass soon, just one of the many reasons we felt like it was necessary to start anew. Doug and I have a lot of ideas as far as tech and advice help, as you can see we have combined some of the old forum format with some new ideas. Doug and I are uploading material now into a server and fixing it where there will be no broken links, missing pictures, etc. to make sure it is always here and will not vanish like some has at the old site. All this takes time and we are working on this every spare minute it seems like to accomplish this and I ask members to be patient, offer any help as far as material they find good for members and to realize that we do have personal lives of our own. Doug works 5 to 6 days a week as a medical professional and even though I call myself retired I have to wonder about it sometimes? As far as Brent and his forum which he has built and has a lot of helpful and loyal members along with one of the finest tech sections around, just like everyone else they will soon know about the transfer of the old site to the new and if Brent wants to help here or offer tech material that will be up to him, he is a good guy for sure. We will not post his material here without his approval in this tech section but if members here want to link to 49ccscoot as a reference to help someone that will be allowed along with other scooter forums and sites as well. There are other forums that have great tech sections and some of this material is a open thing to find in any search engine if people look for it. We will use public found material, along with material found by members here as long as we don't see a conflict. Doug and I also have the capability to build or make our own material and a lot of it will be put in the form of PDF's which gives people more features when reading the material too. Again kind of new but also efficient. It'll take a little time but we'll get there. JR

Here at It Is The Ride we welcome all dealers, parts vendors, importers and scooter sales people and want you to feel free to post your specials, on sale, close out and other great deals on anything scooter related from a scooter to a helmet, a clutch to riding gloves, you get the idea! This section is for just that posting deals related to scooters and not a place to post complaints, air out grievances on a purchase, or even inquire about a purchase from a member dealer or vendor who lists their items here. We have a section to talk about these type things. This section while is mainly for vendors and other members are asked to put information they find or have questions about on other deals in the Scooter Dealers, The Good and The Bad section. Should you see a listing of interest to you in this section we ask you to PM the vendor and correspond with them in that matter. We hope that this section will be a invaluable resource for all.
