I believe some are still missing my point. It seems that some think the "only" reason other forums were formed is because members at one time from SD could not get along. While this is the case with some to a degree it's not the only reason. The other forums that did branch out from SD are not by any means the only scooter forums out there, they are mainly the ones that are hosted by the software provider Proboards. There are some very large forums out there that know of SD yet have never joined and are happy where they are.
Shalomdawg, you made a viable point, some people for whatever reason only want to frequent one forum for lots of reasons besides just the getting along with all. Funny thing also is I know people who can get along at one place and are not welcome at another.
But I also know how some feel about a certain place, you join, you post and make friends and before you know it a forum can be like home. A lot of people who are here and also at other places cut their teeth so to speak at SD, myself included but sometimes things go south so to speak and then the place becomes a memory.

I haven't been hanging around here all that long, so please forgive my ignorance if this question seems inappropriate. It seems that there used to one recently deceased, but very active forum that was a tremendous repository of knowledge. Now there are 3 or 4 very similar new forums. Each with a limited amount of activity. And since there isn't enough traffic happening on any one of them, I'm seeing the same names appear on all of them. Many of the requests for assistance are cross-posted on at least two. Wouldn't it be simpler and more efficient to have just one place for everyone to go? Or are there too many lingering personality conflicts for this to be feasible? First of all the newest of these forums is this one and it has been said many times why so no need to go into that.
Yes there are some people who are on all of them but the point I think you're missing is while people may belong to 3 or 4 different forums each forum has so to speak it's own personality. I'll speak about this one and IMO it's a blend of the old faithful SD members and a few totally new ones but I can say that I know there are members here that are not members of the other forums you may be talking about and I can say that personally about my forum that I have. Why? lots of reasons and whatever they are it's fine, different strokes for different folks.
Other forums were formed for one of the reasons you mentioned of personality conflicts but hey that's the way it is in life in general. Think about it in about everything we do people sometimes go to or do things with other people just because they like one place or other people better, again different strokes for different folks.
On the knowledge thing IMO that also is different on different forums, I'll speak for myself even though as being one who has helped make other forums and one who has helped make this forum along with Doug I can say that this also a lot of times goes with the personality of the forum itself. This forum which is the new place for SD has people that go way back when Chinese scooters were still a lot of mystery and knowledge put on the old forum was a lot of experiences that were learned on a fix it and learn as you go basis.
Other forums have picked up on that principal also but have added other things as well and even though someone may go ask the same question on more than one forum they may get the answer to their problem on only one? Why? maybe at the time someone was online at the time they posted and just beat someone say on this forum to it? Sometimes they get a answer that may be wrong in one place and get the correct one in another?
That's another reason IMO to have other choices or places to go because again there are people here that aren't at other forums and vise versa. Myself on my forum it's not as orientated to the more everyday chat like here and a lot of my members mainly ask for scooter related problems and my non scooter section isn't as busy, again just the way the people on my forum are, no big deal. I can also say that other forums sometimes have members who seem to like to have conversations about how disgruntled they are with another forum and want to talk about others who got tired of their causing problems and for me they can just stay there and be disgruntled.
I will also say that this forum is less than a year old and the traffic to this forum is tremendous and growing for several reasons and I know this from helping build it and monitoring it's activity compared to others even my own and at the current pace I truly believe it'll reach the heights of what the old forum SD did. Difference from then to now is this place has people here who care and want to see it prosper and will not abandon it.
In the future as Doug and I have time we are going to be working toward bringing some of the best SD tech help things to here along with soon I hope to be putting more and more things in this tech section especially manuals and other how to's and even a video section. My time has been consumed with the forum software change which has slowed me on these things.

I'm getting sick of people replying to something that I simply never said. Note: a Burgy is HUGE! All depends on what your definition of huge is? Compared to the Honda Silverwing the Burgy is medium. Also I just can't understand how one could or would pay $400 for doing a water pump job to the engine of this scooter when it can be done for less than $100 yourself and that includes total replacement of the seals and impeller if it even needed that. You can even buy a Honda seal kit for it for less than $50 and yes the Honda helix seal will fit it. Also we have a manual here that gives step by step instructions and it's not a hard job.

Thanks folks for the compliments. I've been playing with this on and off all day to get the bugs out and also working out a way to be able to change the images to match the season.
Yes snowflakes are doable and other holidays like Halloween which is closing in on us.

So hopefully with this change and GoDaddy's good reputation for good service and reliability we'll not see the missing images/photos again. Where have you heard this? They have hosted my site for the last 4 years, I would love to move somewhere else, but can't get any support to answer my questions so I can move on up. I hope your experience is much better than mine has been. Never had one issue with Godaddy answering any question I've had? When I started using them I was a total rookie and absolutely knew nothing about any of it and I was on the phone a lot learning some of the simplest things and they kindly and patiently walked me through every issue.

I just use photobucket and copy paste the appropriate code I tried to use the attachement button on avatar but didn't work Read the above post, if your signature is over 150px in height you will get the banner as you did. Not trying to be difficult folks but the signatures as big as a barn not going to fly anymore. We all got to remember even in this day some still have smaller screens and even on dial up and large images are extremely difficult for them to see and even harder to open. All images put on regular posting will automatically be resized by the auto resizer to 480px X 360px. But the cool thing is if you want to view the image in full size you will be able to click on it and it will resize to original. But on the signature 150px high is the limit, as I said computers vary so size it to 149px in height and it will appear. Also as of last night the Attach button is gone and not available. JR

I use imageshack.us, and then when i finish uploading i get the direct link for that pic, then when in the reply/post box on the forum I click the picture icon which is (insert image) then just paste the image url link from imageshack and click the insert image button afterwards and it shows in html or forum code or whatever in the post/reply box. If your trying to upload the pics for your profile picture, it needs to be 100x100 resolution i think, and under a certain amount of mb (maybe 1-2mb) i believe, as for sigs, I have no clue cause I havent tried to upload a pic to my sig. support.proboards.com/thread/460424/adding-signature-postsNow I'm going to add to this link how to. Now you can just put text in your signature as mentioned or a photo and there are two ways to put a photo in your signature. When you are on your personal profile page and want to place a photo in just go to whatever you use to host your photos and when looking for the right link code you will need to use a code like this from photobucket and it's called a IMG code. Photobucket when you ask for a code link gives you 4 choices and use the one at the bottom. It will look like this: [UR L=http://s499.photobucket.com/user/ jrryan2008/media/Photo-00373.jpg.html]http://i499.photobucket.com/albums/ rr359/jrryan2008/Photo-00373.jpg[/IMG][/UR L] I put some spaces in this so it wouldn't bring the photo up and remember you always have to "Save Changes" at the bottom to make this work. Now if you want the photo centered you need to add the center brackets this one on the front [ center] and this one at the end [ /center]. There is another way which was the old way on the old forum and that's take a direct url and you must put the code brackets there yourself, example: [ img ] http: //s499.photobucket. com/user/ jrryan2008/media /Photo-00373.jpg [/ img ] Again I put spaces in this so it would not link to the photo. Again you want it centered? Use the center brackets or it will automatically be on the left. [ center ] [/ center ] Some of you may have noticed this image in your or others signature. It is self explainatory. In the past if someone's signature was too large I either had to reduce it or ask the member to. Here I have a option of using a plugin code to limit the size of the signatures and as you can see the limit here is 150 pixels high. You can have a signature as long as you want provided it fits the page but the height is a maximum of 150px. You will need to size your signature before you put it in your profile and if it is one pixel above 150px you will have this banner come up. I recommend 149px to be safe. JR

Do we use the attachment button? I downsized a pic to under 65Kb amd tried to attach. It sais board has exceeded bandwidth. Could somebody help me to do this step-by step? thanks Did you not read the link? You will not be able to use the old way or attachment button, in fact I'm coding right now to remove it entirely. PB's now limits the bandwidth limit of attachment images and if you want more as a forum you pay for it, not going to do that especially when there are plenty of sites that will host your images for free and allows you to put them here. Right above each reply area is a menu bar that starts on the left as FONT FACE and ends with the smiley icon which when clicked pops up a smiley menu to use. The 5th icon to the left of the smiley icon is the "insert image" icon of which when clicked brings up the insert image window. On any image hosting site including flikr and imageshack they give one 4 codes that can be used on forums and such. When the pop up window to insert the image comes up you will see a place that is to paste the image host code that you copy from them. It will have http:// and a x to the right and is the place to put the "image url" in. Click on the X to clear the window and then paste you image code in the window. After doing this click on 'Insert Image" then when you finish the post hit "Create Post" and your image will appear. As far as size I have a resizing code handling all images that are too big, people used to insert images in as big as a house and admins had to always resize them, not anymore, it's automatically done with a code now.

Leo I just put the pizza panda in your signature so you can go to your profile and see what I did and BTW don't forget the Save settings click. Also if you right click on the photo and then hit "properties" you'll see the size of this photo is 311pxW X 150pxH. This probably sounds stupid but what browser are you using? I use IE10 so if this keeps happening clear your browsing history and delete your temporary internet files, restart your computer and then put your photo in. JR

Leo it is confusing a bit and the 150 pixel limit is height only. The image can be as wide as you want provided it will fit the page of course. I recommend the height be no more than 149px. Now here is the confusing part of V5 in the old forum V4 one use brackets [ ]for everything in coding but in V5 URL's are used except in a couple of areas and one of these is your signature. To put any image in your signature you code it like this and I will leave spaces in this code so it will appear like it should. To put a image in your signature do it like this: [ img ] url [ /img ] If you want the image centered use this [ center ] [ img ] url [ /img ] [ /center ] Now when I say url I mean like this http: // www. itistheride .com/ Forpics /Pizza Panda .jpgAgain I put spaces in between some of the lettering if you don't the software will place it like it should. I will check the image height plugin to make sure it is still set to 150px. JR
