Hope that first scoot is not the one you're using to get there, or pretty soon you'll need dialisys of a lot more things! LOL I'm about to start an engine rebuild on that scoot and if I can get it running again I may make it into a "naked" bike and use it as a backup for my TaoTao.

Like the black dog that paced you but stayed in his yard. He's a friendly little pup. On one of the country roads outside of town that I drive on a lot there is a house with a dog about three times the size of this one that chases me. He DOES run in the road, however, and I always have to pass the house with caution because I'm afraid he's going to run right in front of me.

I checked the spark plug and it indicated that its still running lean. I'm just going to put the stock airbox back on until I can get a bigger main jet. just doesn't seem to cut it for this particular filter. I'd rather have a clunky restricted filter then take a chance on overheating and blowing my piston!

Driving my TaoTao to and from my kidney dialysis treatment. I've been on dialysis for six years, but I've only recently started "scooting" to and from treatment since most of the time I dialyzed at home. It's actually quite refreshing to hop on the scoot after three hours on a machine. I have access to medical transport, but I hardly use it because I just love to ride!

I was tinkering with it some more and discovered that I did actually have a very small air leak because I didn't have the clamp holding the filter tight enough. It's running much better now, although still a bit lean (possibly because the temperature is so cold right now). There is a very noticeable change in sound when the main jet kicks in and I have a strong burst of acceleration. The problem I'm having now is occasionally the main jet doesn't seem to kick in at all and I have to back off the throttle several times and apply it again until it kicks in. That happened once going up a hill and I just about stalled with a line of irate cagers behind me! Any ideas why it might be doing that? It's never done it with the stock airbox. Should I even be running it when it's doing that?

I wanted to get a snack and I just HAD to go to the convenience store across town instead of walking to the one IN SIGHT of my house!

It's a generic chinese made cone style filter. I've checked for air leaks and found none, and it runs with the right mixture with the stock airbox. I've also tried re adjusting the A/F screw with the new filter on and its still running too lean. I wonder if I have something else restricting my fuel flow.

I've got a high flow air filter that I'd like to use, but I've tried running it with main and 35 pilot jets and it was running so lean it was belching smoke. The original carb had a 75 main. I thought an /35 combination would be big enough for the new filter. Should I try something as big as a or even 100 main, and what should I use for the pilot. The engine is a secret 63. Would that make a difference in the required jet size?

I just finished upgrading the carburetor, CDI, coil, and spark plug on my TaoTao T3 and for the most part I'm impressed. It no longer idles poorly, and no longer wants to die at stoplights. I can also notice an improvement in acceleration and it's not bogging down at WOT. The main jet in the new carb still appears to be too small for the high flow air filter I got. It was running WAY too lean. Strange considering the pre jetted carb I got came with the air filter! I put the stock airbox back on and it runs nicely. So except for the air filter issue, I think it has worked out pretty well.
