I just finished upgrading the carburetor, CDI, coil, and spark plug on my TaoTao T3 and for the most part I'm impressed. It no longer idles poorly, and no longer wants to die at stoplights. I can also notice an improvement in acceleration and it's not bogging down at WOT. The main jet in the new carb still appears to be too small for the high flow air filter I got. It was running WAY too lean. Strange considering the pre jetted carb I got came with the air filter! I put the stock airbox back on and it runs nicely. So except for the air filter issue, I think it has worked out pretty well.

With the stock air filter set up, it's helping your engine run richer due to being more restrictive then the free flowing after market filter. If you pull your spark plug out now it will probably be less lean then it was when you were running the aftermarket filter.

Stock airfilters on the Tao's are pretty much freeflow Exhaust is much more restrictive than intake
