I just bought an A13 cam for my GY6 150cc engine, along with a K&N style filter.. When fitting the CAM do I adjust the valve clearances with the engine at TDC with the A13 logo at the top or.. the hole at the top?? I can't seem to get a definitive answer +?

I just use a section of radiator hose to exrend .. easy and pliable.. I have been known to get hoses from the local junk yard to find the best angle...

Yes - lain you are correct when referring to the 13" models. I have done a disc brake conversion for a 13" wheel model. It was a pain the proverbial, requiring total strip down of the front end, with new handlebars. My Sunl has 12" wheels with wide rims to take 12-4.00 tires. This wheel has a much smaller hub than the 13" drum braked rims. As soon as I get chance I'll send a picture to illustrate. In the meantime, this is the large drum brake backing plate with 13" wheels you describe. Incidentally, the 250cc disc brake 12 inch wheel has the larger hub but.......... has larger splines than the 150cc.. I did manage to use the 110/ -12 tire in place of the original 12-4.00 tire. So, I'm left with no option but to build a new engine around the crankcase, which is really frustrating because there is no indication on the engine number that this is any different from any other long case engine. Although, the engine is covered (both inside and out) with numbers written in sharpie.

That doesn't look like GY6.. Great Video Though.. I do have a 250cc 12" wheel. I'm hoping the hub is bigger than the Sunl..

I just picked up a Sunl 150cc for a reasonable price. The previous owner said it had a 'carb problem' which of course means at least a holed piston. An engine strip down revealed holed piston, bent rod, destroyed cylinder skirt and.... Bent con rod. So I junked the motor and decided to buy a replacement long case engine. Everything went well until I offered the 12" inch rear disc brake wheel to the generic motor.... No way.. it appears there is a new variation to *GY6.. Long Case/Short Case Long output Shaft/Short Output Shaft Big Brake Hub/Small Brake Hub.
I now have to tear down the old motor to rebuild it around the long crankcase.. If you guys have a rear disc scooter, beware of you need a replacement motor..

If it backfires on the over-run there is an iar leak in the exhaust system. Did you repalce the exhaust gasket when you rebuilt the motor? If not, the original get crushed and when you re-fit the exhaust it sometimes doesn't seat properly. Get a NCY gasket off ebay for $3, they cover the whole exhaust outlet.

I have a Lance Vintage with single sided suspension. The shock absorber is a little soft for my riding. It makes the scoot feel hinged in the middle. Does anyone have experience of a stiffer direct replacement. Ideally, i'd be looking to get a beefier less stressed used item from auction.

I'd dump the EGR ( PAIR) system if you're going to change the head. Millsc may even sell you a head if you're nice to him.. Its all very simple, there a plenty of YouTube tutorials.
