I usually say screw it and park on the side walk out of the way..... Haven't had any problems..... Not really possible where I am. Your scooter will be towed most likely. This city is a tow truck driver's paradise. You pretty much can't park anywhere other than your own house without fear of being towed.

I never charge mine; I ride it often enough and long enough where it doesn't need it.

Here in PCB it's bike week and I'm not so much worried about the cagers this week. Bikers come from all over just to act stupid for a week. Last night I was in the car and watched as bikers came flying out of parking lots at WOT snatching the front wheel off the ground. The speed limit is only 35 but flow of traffic limits speed to about 25 and i had few ride my back bumper for miles. I couldn't speed up or i wouldn't have been giving other bikes space. The same goes for spring break scooter renters. They fly around in between cars passing on the left and right as cars are at a dead stop. I am now convinced scooter OWNERS are the safest drivers on the rode. Stay safe and always watch out for the one you can't see. This is so true. I grew up near PCB and life guarded at Shipwreck for several summers in high school and college. The tourists come down and rent 50cc scooters because all they need is a drivers license. Most of them have never driven a 2 wheeled vehicle before other than a bicycle. They drive up and down the strip in packs, honking their little dinky horns every 3 seconds; especially if they pass a girl.

Groovy... I recognize that intersection! My first thought was, "Hey, that looks like an intersection close to where my grandparents live." I came back to the thread and checked your location, and sure enough... Birmingham, AL

how much more is the 350 over this one and if you want to take weekend trips and all you may want to wait to get the 350 Well, the 350 would be new and the MSRP on it is $5700. Not sure what the out the door price would be, but just adding sales tax (6% here) would bring it up to $6,042. Plus, with Vespas and Piaggios the dealer doesn't just fold the shipping costs into the sale price, so we'd have to add that on. Plus registration and everything and it's safe to assume it'd probably be $6,500ish. So we're talking a sizeable price difference. I'd really like the BV 350, but I am going to need a new vehicle fairly soon. Not immediately, but within the next couple of months most likely. My chinese scooter is running fine now, but I need something that I know I can count on to be reliable now that I have a full time job and commute around 25 miles per day. My worst fear is making it about halfway to work in the morning and my scooter dying on me. I also need it to be a scooter because there is nowhere to park my car at work. I work at the university, and the closest car parking is a parking garage and a decal to park there costs roughly $1200 per year. The next closest car parking is about a half mile walk. However, the closest scooter parking is literally right outside the entrance and a scooter decal is $150 per year.

I made a thread over on the Modern Vespa forum about buying the BV 350 without test driving it first because if I got it from my local dealer, I would not be able to. I started calling around to other Vespa dealers within an hour or two drive from here to see if any of them would let me test drive a 350. I talked with the guy at Vespa Orlando for a little bit and he said that they sell out of the BV 350s really quick and that it's proving to be a really good scooter with lots of demand. He literally just sold the last one 15 minutes before I called and said it will be 1 - 2 weeks before another shipment (I think he said of 3) would be coming in. He said it would be totally fine for me to take one out for a test drive. He got my name and number and everything and will call me when they come in. Then he threw a wrench at me. The guy that just bought the last BV 350 had traded in his BV 250. The Vespa dealer said that this guy is a regular customer who trades his scooter in about every 3 years, takes real good care of it (waxes it every month and everything) and is only at 3,800 miles. They're closed tomorrow, and he said he'd hold off listing it for sale until mid-day Tuesday when they reopen, but he expects it to sell really fast. He quoted me $3800 out the door. Also, strangely enough, going from my Chinese 150cc to the Piaggio 250cc will decrease my yearly insurance premium by $16. I had expected it to go up. I did a quote for the 350 while I was at it, and it increase by $48 (so a $64 difference between the two, not a big deal imo). Here are a few pictures the dealer e-mailed me. I'm a little torn. Honestly, I think the 250 would be perfect for me if I were the only one riding it. However, it would be nice to have a little more power and comfort for slightly longer drive with 2 people. I'd really like to be able to, for example, hop on the scooter with my wife and drive the 1.5 hours it takes to get to the beach or just be able to take a weekend, go drive out to the middle of nowhere and go camping and come back the next day or whatever. The 350 would definitely open more doors for that sort of thing. I also really like the 350s extended maintenance intervals. Really, the only reason I'd consider this 250 over the 350 is cost.

The Solano Cycles here in Gainesville has really low ratings on Google compared to the other scooter shops around. 12/30 for Solano compared to 28/30 for New Scooters 4 Less (where I got my scooter). I'm in the market for a bigger more reliable scooter. I'd love a Kymco because they have solid reliability and parts are readily available for them. However, I don't think I'll be getting one from Solano and they are unfortunately the only Kymco dealer around. When I was first looking into the scooter dealers around here, I read all sorts of reviews about the owner and the mechanics at Solano not knowing what they're doing. They try everything they can to not honor their warranties. When you have a problem the mechanics often don't know what the problem is and start replacing things to see if it will fix it and you'll often be back a week later with the same or another problem. Of course, none of this is first hand experience.

Are you 100 % sure on that Devo ? in SC basic liability in SC is a year on a 150cc scooter My full coverage minus med is not quite $80 a year. Plus med, it would be something well into the hundreds. I don't remember the actual 'cause I have health insurance so didn't take it, but $200-something sticks in my mind. >'Kat This was the case with Geico as well. Even just to add the lowest amount of additional medical coverage ($10,000) added around $300 to the annual premium.

[replyingto=payneib]payneib[/replyingto]If you're considering the Downtown 300i, make sure you check out the People GT 300i as well. They are nearly identical; just different bodies. I'm actually going to be giving the People GT 300i a test drive later today if it stops raining.
I'm torn between the Kymco People/Downtown GT 300i and the Piaggio BV 350. Just from reviews I've read I'm leaning towards the Piaggio. I really like the long maintenance intervals. Oil change every 6k miles (10k kilometers), belt and sparkplug every 12k, and don't have to adjust the valves until 24k miles. I believe Kymco recommends oil changes every 3000km, so I'd be doing maintenance three times as often on the Kymco.

Also, since it's not a requirement in FL as far as I know, if you ever end up in an accident, by no fault of your own, you still get royalties; even without insurance. That's actually a common misunderstanding of the no-fault law we have. If the person that hits you doesn't have insurance all you can do is sue them. If they don't have any money then you're just screwed. I know this from experience. I got rear ended by this lady and she screwed my car up bad. Hardly put a dent in hers. We could have taken her to court and caused her to go into bankruptcy because she wouldn't have been able to pay for the damages, but we settled outside court. We didn't want to have to deal with it. I was out quite a bit of money though. The way to protect against that is to have uninsured motorist insurance. If the person that hits you has no insurance or is under insured that's when your uninsured motorist insurance kicks in. If you are a pedestrian and you get hit by a car it's basically the same thing, except you can't rely on your uninsured motorist because it only applies if you are in your insured vehicle. At this point, you have to rely on your health insurance to foot the bill.

Did you find your plate on a website? If so can you post the link to it? It would be cool to find a cool one! I found it on Amazon. I originally found this one on ThinkGeek, but I could only find it in the car size.
