D8 Please excuse Mileage. You would be able to notice popping, backfiring, bogging, etc. if you were running the incorrect jetting and judging by what you've done so far I assume you know your way around re-jetting.
Is your sparkplug properly gapped to .25 or is it iridium? When was your last gear oil change? I'm not too sure about 2ts and my 2t scooter lost all power when the gearbox went dry and the gears got ruined. It has plenty of power on the stand, but when anyone is sitting on it it refuses to go more than a few mph.

[replyingto=redroush00]redroush00[/replyingto]It would be a great scooter ride, if only I could ride my scooter there to get the parts I need. Because this time around it was my air filter that I needed which I just can't ride without. Next time I hope I can just drive to Chicago or Absolutely Scooters unless it's a necessary part I'm missing...

[replyingto=jerseyboy]jerseyboy[/replyingto]58mph is faster than I ever thought I would go on this scooter. I think I'll stick with the # if what you say is right, Tom. I'm getting no popping, backfiring, anything of the sort. The exhaust doesn't sound hollow, nor high pitched (or whatever it sounds like when it's too lean), and I'm getting the best acceleration I've ever got before. My cruising speed is about 40mph which is fine by me. ;D # and it was obvious it was running too lean (until I put a sock over it), #92 and it seemed "better", but still not the greatest as I still got the slightest occasional popping sound. # and all systems go!

[replyingto=millsc]millsc[/replyingto]I think you've got to be right, Chris. No matter what Jet size I choose, , 92, or the tip is still white. However, the base color is changing. First it was white, then whitish light brown, now it's coffee colored. I just did another plug chop with a few more miles than before. Here's the pic:

[replyingto=devo344a]devo344a[/replyingto]Drilling them out would be nice to do, but I already paid a bunch for a fist full of jets. I got 80-98, 98 is my biggest jet and I might have to test that in a little bit when my engine cools. It's a brand new intake manifold so I highly doubt there's a leak, and it's a brand new UNI filter with plenty of oil on it. I just have to figure out if I'm still running lean or not, which it looks like I am because the tip of the sparkplug is still very white with only a slight hint of brown. Though, I'm not sure if I'm really running lean still because I'm not experiencing any of the symptoms of running lean. I got full responsive throttle with no backfiring or popping. All I'm worried about is burning my engine up. Do you know what size jet you ended up with?

[replyingto=jerseyboy]jerseyboy[/replyingto]There's no avoiding hills if I need to go WOT, sadly. The big hill where I almost hit 60 on was on the way home from warming up the engine with a few mile run. There's only a very small incline on the way back where I hit the kill switch and it ends about a block before I hit the killswitch to pull into my driveway.
Thanks for the tip though, I'll keep that in mind.

[replyingto=steelace]steelace[/replyingto]Weights effect your acceleration. A Torque Spring effects your uphill speed. I have a GY6 1.5k Hoca torque spring I paid $18 for. I'll give it to you if you pay shipping and a tank of gas, ~$10. I ordered it for my scooter, but it turns out it's for 150cc scooters only. While I have a 139qmb which means only 50cc parts will fit my scooter

Now the base has no coloration at all and the tip is still ghost white. This is with another BRAND NEW spark plug and a # jet. Do I need to try #98 By the way: My needle does appear to be adjustable, but I'm not experiencing any symptoms anymore. I hit a top speed of 58mph going downhill EDIT: Upon closer inspection, the spark plug seems to have a very slight brown tint. I think I am getting closer.

[replyingto=millsc]millsc[/replyingto]Okay, it's all starting to make sense now. Every scooter is not only different, but dramatically different!

[replyingto=scootnwinn]scootnwinn[/replyingto]Gonna take me about two hours this time, but that's only cause the bike is hot (REALLY hot). ;D After that it does only take me a few minutes to take out the carb and re-jet. While I'm at it I'll check that needle. The thing that takes the longest is re-adjusting the idle because of the ride I have to take in order to disengage the "choke"... I'll try the and if it's too rich I'll just go back to the 92. Thanks for checkin' up on me, Rob.

[replyingto=scootnwinn]scootnwinn[/replyingto]Filter is very well oiled, mostly thanks to your advice. I thought the ghost white tip is what I was focusing on? Is it fine, or do I need that ? 'cause I hear too rich isn't bad, but I am confused if I really need a bigger jet because Millsc uses a 92 and he has a 150cc carb with a bigger head, and the same UNI filter. I guess every scooter is different though. ;D

So today I FINALLY got my UNI filter! So I drove a few miles WOT (even though I know I shouldn't) and cut the killswitch and pulled into my drive way; essentially the whole plug chop process, with a BRAND NEW spark plug and freshly changed 92 jet. And this is what I got: It doesn't look quite as white as last time, but it's definitely still white. Gonna try # next...
