I can't believe all the problems you've been having through the thread. Really sorry to read all this, are they at least working with you to get your 100 to you? This seems crazy!

Well it seems to be running fine now . I'll know for sure tommorow if the weather is good. One thing I did notice on a test run tonight was going down the slight hill on my road it didn't seem like the tranny was engaged and coasted down quite fast and when I gave it throttle it the kicked in. It didn't do this before at all. Is this something else I need to look in to? Also, while checking out the carb I noticed I can't take the lower half apart that would have the jets in it..It's not held together by screws but some kind of pins. What would be a suitable replacement for under $50?

That should be straight. I have no idea how it would bend in normal operation. Straighten it gently and don't score it when you do it. Thanks yet again, I'll see if I can straighten it. Do you think this would cause the symptoms while running that it was having?

I decided to go ahead and clean the carb out to see if I could get it running the way it was just days ago. Once I got it off and started cleaning I got to what I guess is the needle (goes in the top with the diaphragm). Upon further inspection I noticed that this little needle has a slight bend. Now, when I think of needles and such I think of them being in a straight line, not bent. So my question is, Could this bent needle be what has been causing running issues over the past few days? And if so, What causes this sort of thing, I would like to avoid it in the future if possible. Thanks again for all the helpful insight -Tim

It is hard to tell on the video but sounds fairly normal to me. Thank you very much for your input, I'm relieved to hear that. ;D

I apologise for double posting but I was wondering if I can get some input. I've just been sitting around all day with no clue what I should do and the weather is killing me, it's perfect riding weather for the next 2 hours before clouds/storms roll in. Again, sorry, just worried and no where to turn but the wonderful people of this forum -Tim

Thank you for the insight prodigit I know I can't have the best of both worlds with it being a 50cc but soon I should receive my "100cc" BBK and would like to have speed off the line and power on hills. There are more hills where I have to travel but if I could maintain both and have around a 40mph top speed then I would be 100% happy. It's just scary hitting these hills and crawling up them knowing that at any time someone could come up and around and just clobber me..lol. Ok, So after some searching last night and this morning I came across some videos on youtube that SOUNDED like the same noise as mine but they were having piston problems. I made another very short video just now of the scoot running with the covers and stuff off of it. I'm hoping it's NOT a piston problem and I'm just being paranoid but please let me know what everyone thinks. Very Worried -Tim

I have the same issue on my ATM50. Nothing bad, as long as the idle RPM's are not too low (wouldn't set them below ~1200rpm, depending on the temperature and oil you put in there). It's really nothing bad, I presume it's the butterfly valve that stays stuck in a position a little longer than the needle jet, but am not 100% sure about that. Either way, I've been riding with my scoot for a few thousand miles with the issue, and it's not gotten much worse. One thing though, the ATM50 has a very weak stator, so you don't want to equip it with too many lights. They really suck the power on these machines. I took it up the road a little while ago and it tries to die if I apply the brakes and come to a stop. Giving it throttle doesn't help much unless I feather it, Then it eventually works past the dieing stage for a bit. On my lights, I've got switch so they don't run all the time but I just remembered that yesterday morning before I left for town, The battery was dead and I had to use the kick start(not dead because of the lights though, they were off and can only be left on if the key is on). The dead battery is because the place of purchase decided to rip me off and just jump the dead battery that was in it instead of putting a new one in it. Could the dead battery help produce this problem as well? Maybe not allowing the fuel pump to work 100% or something? I'm new to all this so I'm trying not to ask TOO stupid of questions..lol.

Thank you very much prodigit I made a short video showing the throttle problem I'm having that came out of nowhere. The audio seems to be off a bit but when I give it throttle it wants to die.

Hi Dont go any lower a little ticking is perfectly fine I had set mine at .003 int .005 ex and the performance on my BBK scoot was excellent Take care and ride safely Yours Hank Thank you very much for the insight Hank. I'm relieved to know a little tick is ok. I think I will go back to the .003 and .004 and see how it does.

Check your valves first. Seems like typical valves too tight situation. I checked the valves and they were not set to what I've read is the typical .003/.004 so I set the respectively and there was a light ticking. I reset them both to .003 and still ticking. I went down to .0025 and stopped there so far but still ticking. Should I keep going lower until there is no ticking? I'm afraid of ruining it and am at a loss. It would be worth noting that they were WAY lower than .003 because I couldn't even fit the .003 feeler in there in the beginning. I forgot to check the original settings and got ahead of myself..lesson learned.
