Hello again everyone  I've been wondering what appropriate parts I should put on my scoot next and just don't possess the knowledge on the items in the title. I have a QMB139 49cc Engine that I installed this BBK from EBAYBut I'm curious as to which piece I should add next. I know next to nothing about the items I'm needing suggestions on other than a little that I've been able to read. Clutch/springs/pads I ride on mostly hilly terrain and my current clutch setup is warn. From a dead stop, you can hear it "whine" when you go to take off. This doesn't do it ALL the time but I think it's in need of a change since it's stock anyways. Variator/Rollers I was looking at purchasing this one on EBAY but unsure as to what weights would perform better for me for that "happy medium". From what I remember reading, The lighter the weight, the faster the takeoff and acceleration, the heavier the weight the slower takeoff and acceleration but the faster the top speed. Exhaust I'd like to find an affordable "performance exhaust" (who wouldn't..lol!) but am unsure where to look for good ones. I still currently have stock and it does "ok" but again, I feel it is a MUST to replace with the upgraded BBK installed. Rear Brakes From what I know, I have a rear brake drum and they SUCK. They've never been good, even from the dealer. I was wondering two things on this one. 1 What would be some good replacements and are there any tips for maintaining them. 2 Is there any chance I can convert it to disc like the front or is that not possible? Any and all help is greatly appreciated as it's been a year and I don't know what to get next or what would be the CORRECT parts to get. Thank you for reading and Ride Safe -Tim I did drum to disc conversion , I started looking for a scooter that was similar with disc brakes , I took a careful look at where the caliper was mounted (engine or swing arm) and how . Someone posted a scooter like mine with disc brakes . Then selecting the master cylinder I had to make sure the brake hose laid in the head set without binding while turning , the mount for the mirror mount needed to line up with the hole in the head set too . I needed a new wheel , it had to fit my engines case correctly then the rotor had to be perfect . Then I had to cut the rear wheel spacers to get it all to line up without any stress . As for your clutch the bell gets glazed you can sand that off light sanding of the clutch pads . I found it better to breakdown the clutch wipe it down with WD40 cleaning out all the old grease and lube the slides spring seats bearings , take close attention to the clutch pads they are on pivot pins on one side and a spring on the other , wipe them clean with wd40 and grease them . Use high temp bearing grease check your bearings for imperfections , you need grease that will not run when it gets hot . When you get it back together make sure everything moves smoothly , remember not to over grease the slides on the pulleys excess grease can get flung off while under centrifical force . This doesn't do it ALL the time but I think it's in need of a change since it's stock anyways. Just get a new CLutch and stronger SPRINGS on Clutch are also an experiment, they come rated 1000,
1500 and 2000 what that means is if with the stock springs the scoot starts to move say at 2500 rpms what you do is add the rated value to that and that will be the RPMS will have to raise to have the pads thrown out and grab the bell to turn your rear wheel. So 2500 plus 1000 rated springs now your RPMS will have to climb to 3500 before the pads get thrown out and grab the bell to move the scoot. So again here all depends on how you ride and were you ride and what you like. Koso is a pretty good Variator I run one on my hotrod trike and I like it better than the expensive ones I tried out(Dr. Pulley, Dr2 and Proidgy). Weigths it depends on how you ride it is not a set weight you will have to experiment with them.Exhaust I'd like to find an affordable "performance exhaust" (who wouldn't..lol!) but am unsure where to look for good ones. Performance mufflers are louder they do not have baffles inside they are straight through cones wrapped to quiet them down some. You can google for performance mufflers for you size motor and you have to find one that will attach to your pipe or you can get the whole system but Most you will have to modify to have it bolt up to the motor and where the muffler attachs. It is possible but a lot of work and you have to know what your doing and not worth the effort speaking about money wise and knowledge wise: Just the one I was hoping would spot this, Thank you VERY much for your input! Is there any advise anyone can give me on the clutch or can someone point me at a good one to start with at a good price? Also, I've been looking into getting a tach, Can an analog tach be hooked up or would I HAVE to go with a digi? If I CAN go analog, What would the rev range be on these types of engines, Would a 10,000 or 13,000 be what I'm needing or can I get away with an 8,000? Thanks -Tim |

Here's my custom painted Fulmer helmet. I picked it up for a steal and it was in great shape minus the shield and some horrid paint the previous owner put on it. It started out white and this is where it ended up when I was finished after 5 hours. The characters name is clap trap from a video game called Borderlands.  Thanks for looking  -Tim That's perfect. From the front, he looks like a scooter! Sure does! It took a YEAR for someone to spot that, lol! Congrats to you bud!  |

Maybe I'll check out the pawn stores.. But I was actually going to save money for a Emaxx Guess I'll be saving for a game system too thanks for the suggestions  The Wii would be a good choice if you want to play the old double dragon and other NES games. They have a virtual collection where you can buy most of the old games from their online store and play them on the Wii. It's pretty fun. As far as suggestions go, Cheap but good route would be PS2 like said above. TONS of games that are mostly fun and best part...mostly CHEAP too! I actually have an Atari 2600. I love the thing, but the sound doesn't work on it. I only have about 20 or 25 carts for it and no paddles. I have two joysticks for it. Nothing like playing those old games on the real hardware. =) I couldn't agree more! I have emulators and roms but never touch them. For me, there's no comparison for real hardware. It's always great to sit down with a few people and play games where you have to SHARE controllers or play on the same screen..lol. |
