Seems the most legit place to be. If not there, there's only one Vespa store in Miami Beach that I know of, it's on south beach, Alton road, and 17th street That's the sales channel, but they must have a way to get these bikes repaired.

Seafoam reduces performance when in use, because it doesn't burn as good as fuel. I usually pour one to 3 oz in a tank every 1000 km's, and so far so good!

Citgo has the second to worst fuel in s fl. Chevron is by far the worst of them all.

Very nice! Aside from perhaps having a chrome rack on the front (like done on some italian scooters) I see nothing else I could recommend to make it look classic! It's a nice work of art!

They should test that scooter against this electric vehicle: www.commutercars.com/The tango T600, with over 3000LB Ft of torque. In comparison: my Honda Shadow VT750 has 67-97LB Ft of torque (depending on how it's tuned). The BMS TXB260 has about 24 ft lb of torque, and a stock 50cc has about 3-3,5LB FT of torque. That machine has about 1000x more than a 50cc; but it costs you also 200x more (~$200.000 USD)

After some more test rides, it's safe to say that the drilling actually makes very little to no performance difference. When I was riding 50MPH, was with a seemingly strong backwind. I've done many test runs, and my speed hasn't realy changed. I do like the sound better though.
I would not take out the exhaust tip, as the sound might become too loud, and some powliice could ticket you for too much noise.
But so far no real change on the 50cc. I'll be testing out the 150cc soon.
As for the popping sound, the muffler of TaoTao scooters is so good, that even if you had popping sounds you wouldn't hear it until you drilled it out.
All I'm waiting to see is the MPG results, to see if the bike runs a bit better being drilled out compared to stock. I guess I won't see more than 10MPG difference; perhaps 5MPG difference at best. Makes more sense to pump up the tires HARD than to drill out an exhaust if you want to boost performance and increase MPG at the same time

gitsum: Unless you can explain what's so wrong about my theories I would suggest you to: Popping on decel is normal. It's not catastrophic; just as long as the bike is not bogging down because of running too lean.

IMHO, the exhaust functions separate from the intake, but the intake affects the exhaust.
By opening up the exhaust, all you're really doing is finding a more efficient way for the exhaust gasses to escape the cylinder, allowing more fresh fuel mixture in the cylinder at the next stroke. The more back pressure, the more exhaust fumes will be present in the cylinder.
Changing the air intake affects air/fuel ratio, and normally needs to be re-jetted.
As far as exhaust tuning, the tuning is only done on the exhaust tip/muffler. Anything where the exhaust pipe ends and the muffler takes over, is considered outside of the exhaust tuning. The exhaust pipe has not been modified, only the muffler or exhaust tip. The gasses escape the exhaust pipe, and get into the muffler. If the muffler has a too small exhaust tip, then a higher pressure will develop inside of it, as exhaust gasses enter. The pressure on both the exhaust tip's end, as well as the exhaust pipe's end is equal. meaning, that if the exhaust tip diameter is as large as the exhaust pipe diameter, just about as much pressure will be put on both sides. Make the exhaust tip larger, and more exhaust gasses will escape the muffler through the tip, than through the pipe back in the engine.
As you know exhaust gasses are exited in pulses, creating pressure and sub-pressure waves. These sub-pressure waves can be eliminated, and become a constant pressure flow, when the muffler does not have a large enough exhaust tip.
I did some tests on my EVO150, but can not say I notice any improvements. So far there was a strong head wind, allowing my bike to only go 50MPH, however going on the highway with no wind, it reached 60MPH with ease. I think it has bad gasoline, but I'll change it with the next fuelup, and see if there's any improvement.
Drilling open the muffler, also makes me able to hear exhaust pops on decel (only when the throttle is completely released). I guess they where always there, only now they can be heard better....

I've had very little problems with alleyoop. I think this forum has done well with him being a mod. There are others I'm glad aren't a mod, that ARE making fun of other people. At least Alleyoop sticks to the topic, instead of attacking individuals. Can't remember him doing that (or at least not often)
