Good review. Clarity DeFog it works equally as well or slightly better; a little cheaper for about the same size. I've just put FogCity inserts into both my regular and tinted shields; with the exception of a slight smoky view, they're perfect. Unfortunately, they cost me $25 shipped per (yet I guarantee you that if shields were forced by law to be anti-fog, your cost would only rise $10 per or less because of the much lower cost of treating anything in bulk, depending on the size of the manufacturer and the technology used).

For those with 49/50cc scoots, what is your average top speed and if it's higher than normal, what things got you there? Please also list your body weight (or at least light, medium, heavy).

I have the stock black one in now; fried the orange and the pink (red) one. To be honest, I noticed no difference between any of them on top-end or acceleration (my top-end sucks but my acceleration has always been good after I changed to Dr. Pulley sliders).

The carb I have now is not sealed so I can adjust it when the time comes. So you all think just stick with the stock carb and just up jet? I'm sure that would work. I ordered a carb off ebay that was pre-upjetted in hopes that it would increase my top end (it didn't) but also just to have a backup carb because of shipping times. Except for tires, I've got a replacement for about every ride-stopping item because I can't stand not riding. My upjetted carb was like $30 shipped (we're not talking super-high quality here, but it works).

I can't see past my mirrors either; it's just a size of body vs. scooter size thing; I have to get a hard lean on. I do use RainX on my cheap helmet faceshield and have had no issues and the water beads and rolls off pretty well... I hear a lot of mixed opinions on that.

I haven't been pushing the petition; it's hard enough to find riders that care, say nothing of those that care enough to take time out of their day to sign a petition. But it's still there, and the signatures will accumulate. Patience is something I have no shortage of.

Lifting a face shield can be frostbite for some of us, and it doesn't address the other issues. You're already being told what to do. Do you drink and drive? Do you take a hatchet to somebody who cuts you off? Do you walk into a store and just take what you like? I want you to be discouraged from driving/flying/riding while fogged up, not trust that you'll be responsible today and apply your own prevention. This is an easy fix to a big problem.

we had one nut wanting all companies, to make M/C helmets to be mandated to make anti fog visors by the govt.
That nut was me, and it is a damned fine idea. There is no difference between somebody riding with a fogged face shield, windshield (bike, plane, car, control tower) and a drunk. You're absolutely insane if you think costs would go up considerably. The math just doesn't work. Safety SHOULD be mandated, when your failure to be safe could cost me my life.

In my situation, it wouldn't make sense for the lead rider to be in the center; the rear rider, in this case, will need the most space in an emergency, not only because it's harder to stop but because the bike is so huge, so if he got even a little squirelly on it, he would need a lot of space and being next to dirt/gravel wouldn't serve well. Plus, my riding position really doesn't change--I always stay to the far right except at night. But it is important to stagger and give ample following distance. Be mindfull that curb side riding with no lead bike on the other side of the lane clearing the way puts you in the "Dead Zone" making you invisible to many people pulling out of parking lots, drive ways and side streets. Yeah I realize that; matter of fact, when we're in town where most driveways are, I tend to ride closer to the center. Here, there just isn't enough traffic for there to be any oil spots (though I wouldn't ride toward the middle in the rain, just in case). But most of our ride around here is all rural with good visibility coming out of lanes. Of all the near misses I've had so far, none have been from people pulling out of lanes. Either head-on while drifting over the line, turning left in front of me, passing me then immediately applying brakes to turn, and a couple of "almost" pulling out, where they give gas but then stomp on the brake. I think I have a natural awareness for creating a line of site. Considering my partner already took a spill last summer that hurt him, I would take the blind-spot risk any day to give him some more room. (He took a left turn too hard on the lean and went down toward the inside, messed his ribs up).

Cars always passing you means your not keeping up with traffic and is very dangerous. You do not have to speed but keep up with the slower traffic on the right lane. If your scoot cannot go those speed limits your riding on the wrong street and or get a bigger scoot that can attain the speeds you travel on. Alleyoop While I agree that it increases risk, there is no choice around here; % of the local roads are 55mph. Moreover, based on your theory, no cyclists should ride!

I think I know what I'll do; I'll just run it up the road with the exhaust loose or the whole muffler off. If it doesn't increase top end then, there would be no point in drilling anything.
