Stupid? Seriously? Oh my. Eventually they grow up. No, you didn't read my post, paynib. I agree with what you are saying, so if I'm stupid, well, you're stupid. What I said was when it turns out that they were "flatly wrong," (vs. "open debate," "process of solving," etc.--do you know the difference?) why do they continue to just jump in and throw anything out there as if it were fact. A simple qualifying statement would do; "In my experience..." "My opinion is..." But to jump in and say, "Yes, you can pour water in your gas tank. It will help clean it out," what is driving that person? Certainly not sabotage. I don't want that in an answer to my question and I sure as don't want it in an answer to a newbs question who might actually follow the advice. Stupid huh? Wow.

Or i can build you one of these ;D, building computers is my other hobby, got too costly so i went to scooters hahahaha. I tried to get away from pcs and went into copiers, but people just kept bringing them to me... worked in various IT departments and at Gateway in IT and then later tech. support.

I don't know when a culture of just-answer-anything-doesn't-matter-if-you're-right took over . When I come to a board for help, I want concise answers from people that know. While I realize those answers can vary, why do people who turn out to be flatly wrong insist on answering? Have they successfully deluded themselves into thinking they know everything? Do they just have too much energy? Is it wrong to expect/ask for only people who really know an answer to answer a question? This is particularly worrisome to me regarding issues that can affect health/safe riding directly. EDIT: remember the title of the thread is, "Request; if you don't know, don't act like you do!" So while I think it's perfectly fine for everybody to pipe in with opinions and experiences on posts, what makes me want to tear my hair out is when people throw something out there that is entirely wrong but present it as fact. So it's important to understand I DO think everybody should take part if they've had an experience, but there is nothing wrong with saying, "In my opinion," or "When that happened to me," vs. "This is the rule; you must never use brakes or you could skid and die; use only your shoes."

actually, try to defrag the drive at least once every 6 months. If it's impossible, then at least once a year do it. Your data loss might not be due to lack of power, but due to hard drive not retaining everything. To clarify, defragging has nothing to do with data loss or retention, and I'm seriously doubting she has an SS device that could lose data due to lack of power--SS devices actually last longer than a standard SATA type device for retaining data. The general consensus is that you have a good 8 or 10 years of safe storage (more with an SS device) with no worries, and that limit only applies because of drive warranties and suspected failure rates, which is sort of bogus because a stored drive, not in use, and kept clean and dry, could theoretically last a couple centuries before a natural type of demagnetization occurs or other interference that could disrupt data..

I was thinking I'd rather have bar end, since I wouldn't have to replace my original mounts from the stripping plus they didn't do a good job at showing me what was behind me because I'm too wide. Only concern is that as I look down toward my grips, it would seem that my arms are in the way of any mirror that's not elevated at the end/above the bar vs. straight out like a lot of the ones I'm seeing for sale.

I'm looking for some mirror options; I stripped out my right side mirror mount. I can figure out what has to be replaced but I was thinking about going for end-mounted mirrors or other options. Anybody have suggestions for a cy50a?

You may also want to consider remote backups. It's a smart way to guarantee data survival (fire, flood, etc. would destroy possibly all of the hard drives in your house, external and internal...). There is a battery on the motherboard that is a watch battery that keeps cmos settings; if that dies, it can give you a headache but your data on the hard drive will still be fully intact.
