You have to do what you have to do. I'd either just ride more and see if you get more comfortable or put it away for a few days or weeks and then give it a try again. No need to rush into a sale.

Well, the flywheel is locked in position with the key in the crank shaft, that key was fine. The metal might have been messing with things, may have got into the bearing on the rod and ruined it. I wish I had found something that looked like it was falling apart though, it would give me some piece of mind regarding all the metal flakes.

Well, I have used Firefox since Windows 98, I don't even open IE unless I just have to. BTW, Firefox (netscape) was the company Windows sued because they were afraid it would morph into a competing operating system and offer too much competition. My problems with Vista were mostly its inability to run software I had on my XP machine. I figured if I couldn't use what I wanted, why pay for the operating system and went Linux for a long time, then the one I really liked lost its support, there are lots of others out there but I just fell back on XP for now.

Skyrider, I am betting the noise you heard was the bearing on the crank end of the rod, it has a little roughness in it and that is all I have found, I also played with the oil pump and it seemed a bit rough when I rotated the shaft on it.
Also I have not found anything that looked like it was the source of all the metal pieces I found in it.

The case is split and the crank is out.
I had expected some real slop in the play on the rod journal, it moves a few thousandths of an inch and there is a little roughness in the bearing when I rolled it along the counter top, there was not anything absolutely horrible though like I expected.

Jr I would take Vista over W 8 anyday. My laptop I had to replace had vista on it. That laptop made me mad enough at Windose to go to Linux for several years but my new laptop with 8 stinks to high heaven. Vista only stunk around the near corner in the street.
But I am glad you got your computers functioning.

I don't know, the battery in my riding mower has a lot of cranking amps, I also bought it at Wal Mart because it was twice the power of the others I saw. I had friend that put one in his top boxe on a Kymco People 150 and it did well for him he just lost a lot of storage space.

Ahhh, I was wondering because the starter gear it self only spins when the starter motor is going. It would not probably keep up with the motor speed and it might not engage the clutch if it were not going fast enough.
This should be a low wear item that rarely needs replacing.

How many miles back did it do that. Is that why you put the ford relay in it?

Seems a little long between spark plug firing.
What is the scooter doing, does it run?
Have you checked the compression?

Be sure you get everything in a legal contract, it will protect both of you.

I never have had a Honda scooter but have had a bunch of Honda motorcycles. I have had to repair a lot of those, i have no reason to think they would be inherently lower quality than the scooters. The repairs were just things like the transmission, valves, had to bore one out because it had worn out the rings and the cylinder was to worn for the standard piston. They all break eventually.

Exhaust leaks can lead to a burnt valve.
Make sure the valves are adjusted on a cold motor.

He said he broke it in with dino oil and then used synthetic oil for the next 9000 miles before it did this. THe oil in it was pretty good looking when I drained it.
