Audio link . . around 21 minutes long.
At around 14:15 he does mention 2 new lines that are being released in February 2017, but unclear if those are scooter related.
Many areas lack support for a scooter dealer. Roketa is presently showing two Jiajue 150cc models . . MC-46J-150(LLP) and MC-121-150(LLP). Online resource.

I keep hoping Justin and his crew introduces a SYM Wolf sized bike. Adding a motorcycle, to me, is a growth move.

Justin and the rest of his crew are doing such a good job right now. I'm so glad to have him as part of the industry.

Would like to see Kymco, Sym-Lance, Genuine, Bintelli, and Wolf offer direct online sales of a "value priced" scooter model. The Amazon reviews for the TaoTao ATM50-A1 may be a indication of how this would go . . those with some mechanical aptitude appear to prevail, compared to the "can't find the spark plug" crowd. Tesla marketing strategy.

The Amazon reviews for the TaoTao ATM50-A1 may be a indication of how this would go . . those with some mechanical aptitude appear to prevail, compared to the "can't find the spark plug" crowd. Tesla marketing strategy. The key to the Tesla strategy is that it still requires you to go to a Tesla dealership (well, they call it a service center for certain necessary reasons) to pick up the car. I think this is an important part to acknowledge as it then isn't TRUE consumer direct, and instead the vehicle is properly prepped and ready to go prior to delivery. In the scooter world It would be an interesting agreement however as it could hamstring the associated dealer's ability to profit. It only works for Tesla because their network is wholly owned. Also (as Tesla has found out), a few states don't allow for OEM owned services centers to perform final deliveries of consumer ordered direct product in an effort to protect the established network. This is very interesting to think about logistically, but should probably be a different thread as we're about to hijack this one out from under Justin. You got my gears a' turnin'... Matt

Tesla marketing strategy. It can backfire terribly when the distributor or manufacturer cuts out their dealers and starts competing with them. Znen tried that with their own Puma brand of bikes. There is added value to having the ability to provide a full parts and labor warranty at an OEM dealership compared to a parts only warranty with telephone support.

Thank you all for the kind words. I'm so proud of what our team has accomplished this year. We have some exciting things on the horizon for our dealer family and can't wait to share them with all of you in March! I'll be traveling to visit 7 factories in January and am excited to bring two team members that have never visited before. The more knowledge I open my team to, the more involved they all can be in continuing to better the industry! Our move to Charleston 20 months ago has really opened up some doors for us, which has spurned our recent growth. We have several new product lines we have been considering and we will be unveiling two of them to our dealer family late February. We always have things cooking, some just take longer to come to fruition than others. Having a great dealer family provides us with constant feedback that spurns additions to the lines as well as improvement to those we already carry. It's going to be an exciting few months. We have major improvements happening to our citEcar Electric Vehicle line and we are adding some new standard features to both Bintelli and Adly lines as well. Keep an eye out!

Do your electric vehicles qualify for Federal and Local EV Tax Credits? I drive a Nissan Leaf as my daily commuter and the standard L1/L2 and 400Volt DC Quick Charge Ports makes it very convenient since those public charging stations are quite common around here. With the Federal and Local EV Tax Credits you can get them new for less than $15,000 and off lease with low mileage for well below $10,000 and you can travel at Interstate speeds. Yes electric is getting very interesting and capable of more than just tooling around the City.
Looking forward to seeing what your next gen EV's will be like. EV no longer means expensive golf cart unless your a millionaire that's for sure.

What I'd like to see is a Fury 200 with the 168cc engine. Mike at Lance has added that engine to his line. It would raise the scooters into the real commuter category and put Bintelli in the ball park with the Piaggio Fly 150, SYM and Kymco scooters. Not to mention knocking on the door of the PCX and SMax guys. I saw the Fury in the flesh. Along with the Cleveland Ace Deluxe they had there it made my wallet very nervous.

Do your electric vehicles qualify for Federal and Local EV Tax Credits? rockynv thank you for the question. At this time, they do not. They did for 2009 and 2010 (up to 60% tax credit on the vehicle price!) That credit sadly ended though and now only highway EVs come with a substantial tax credit.

What I'd like to see is a Fury 200 with the 168cc engine. w650 thanks for the feedback! We are always exploring larger engine sizes. In the past 5-10 years, we did not find that the quality of Chinese engines over 150cc we to the level that we'd want to put our name on. Over the last two years we have started to see an increase in quality in these larger engines, so things are looking good for the future. The other hindrance outside of quality is the EPA. Every engine size requires a different EPA certificate and thus more testing, which is extremely expensive. As a manufacturer, we first look to see if the quality is there to want us to stand behind it. After that, we run a cost analysis of expected yearly sales vs the time/effort/money needed to get a new model line EPA approved. Larger engines are something we most certainly will be continuing to follow and test, as we know there is a need in the market!

For others curious . . Bintelli Fury 150. In a hill/headwind context, a 168cc fan-cooled scooter engine should have a torque advantage over a 150cc . . at the expense of higher cylinder head temperatures (around 400°F on a wide-open-throttle 150cc). One potential scenario is high-temp related loss of piston ring tension . . resulting in compression blow-by into crankcase . . resulting in enhanced loss of oil through valve cover port . . resulting in engine seizing.

I'm sure Mike didn't just put this out knowing it would fail. www.lancepowersports.com/models/cabo200i_specs.htmlAir cooled, 65+ mph and cheaper than anything in it's size category. Yes, SYM knows a thing or two about engineering (Fuel Injection-Yum) but I would wager that they tested the air cooled engine pretty strenuously before putting it in this and the Fiddle III. The online guys sold a similar engine last year with carburetors in a few scooters. I haven't heard anything about them to say with certainty that they work. It would seem to me a simple oil cooler would obviate heat and give people Commuting capabilities for a bargain price. Even this Lance seems to have similar to a new PCX 150 speed at a thousand less.

Lance has been quite cautious after the 2007/2008 Znen debacle. Those bikes with the bad bearings, faulty castings, etc hurt them quite a bit. The new Lance and Sym offerings are quite different from those maintenance nightmares from 8 years ago.

I only know this about Lance Znens. We had a member at Scootdawg years ago named Dorian. He owned a 2008 Lance Milan and rode it around San Francisco daily as his commuter. I spoke to the man through PM several times. He only did routine bolt tightening, oil changes and the occasional bulb. In one year he had 24,000 miles on the bike commuting with it instead of his Gold Wing. What happened to it was sad but an accident. He was out with his wife on her Buddy and came upon a huge pile of dirt. He did his best Evel Knievel impression in a huge jump. Upon landing very hard the frame broke. He still rode it home but scrapped the bike unwilling to have the frame welded or replaced but it had a very solid motor. He disappeared after that.
But 24,000 miles without a problem and no oil leaks. That problem cropped up on many scooters but rarely on the Milan. In the great rush to meet demand in 2008 in this Country quality was put aside for quantity and metal suffered.
In his defense Mike at Lance found that many of his customers were actually USING their scooters hard and depended on them for commuting. The China built Cali Classic by SYM was the answer to that and his association with SYM has served him and his customers well.
Wolf Brand scooters are by Znen now and they swear by them.
