This will be my second oil change. Bike has I don't know how many miles(like 1200) ....but should I consider a synth oil that will in effect last longer b/n oil changes..?...run smoother..? etc

I would still change your oil just as often even if you go with synthetic. The oil itself will last longer no doubt but gy6 motors have a very poor excuse for a filter (just that little mesh screen) and I would still change it every 600-1000 miles just to get any crap out that may be in the oil that the filter cant get out.

Don't forget to change the air in the tires.

I know this was kind of a dumb thread but I wanted to start one just to be certain I can run synth motorcycle oil in this.

1400 miles, going to change it this week. Bought castrol edge full synth, hopefully a quart is enough.

I general, the GY6 only needs 750ml. . Not even a quart. Just use the side of the bottle, it will show the amount you have put in. Then check your oil level,... add a little more if needed. Just use the rest of the bottle to top-off when needed.
I change/check my oil on the kickstand. Others may have different opinions, including, using the center stand instead... which I would like to hear about what the rest of the Pit Crew does also.

Check it on the center stand. If not it will be overfilled.

Seems like the sidestand wuold be a little too off, leaning to one side, not erect , straight up and down so that you get a good reading..?

Center stand to check oil. Change gear oil at every other engine oil change if you go synthetic at every engine oil change if using dino.

Do these scoots hve wet clutches? Or, does the oil have to be free of oil additives? (Non energy conserving) Like the Honda GN-4 MC oil?
I know- I'm asking stupid questins, but, I'm new to scoots. Grew up on MC engines, goldwing/shadow/magna

I noticed there are two bolts under the engine on mine, I know the one comes out w the screen (filter) but does the other?? I'm not going to mess with it unless someone posts and lets me know.

Also, Im pretty sure you just "poke" the cap back in when checking the level, not screwing back in. If someone could chime in and confirm that for me that would be great.
