So I have been riding my salvaged 150cc for a couple weeks now, and am getting aggrivated at having to fuel up literally every day, yesterday I actually fueled up twice! I totalled only about 35 miles yesterday so how the am I using that much fuel... There aren't any issues with how it runs, it runs like a dream, just annoying to have to keep an eye out for gas stations when on my old 92cc I only gassed up a couple times a week while doing the same amount of travelling I am doing.
There are no leaks in the fuel lines, the tank has no leaks but I noticed the tank itself even though this is a 150cc is one of the smallest I've ever seen, only 0.8G!!! Every time I gas up I'm putting in about half to 3/4 a gallon into the tank at most even when almost dry. The carburetor is in great condition, made sure to disassemble it and clean it out when I first got the scoot and it looked like-new.
Do you guys think it's just the size of the tank that's causing me to have to fuel up everyday or could there be another issue I'm overlooking?

Disclaimer--NOT A MECHANIC! Could there be crudge inside the tank that's not only reduced the interior size but also somehow reduces the mileage? Or else can there be a split or some leak somewhere that isn't dripping but is somehow letting gas escape? Like maybe it evaporates before it can drip? Otherwise, just how jack-rabbit are you, boyo? >'Kat

Nope, checked all lines, gas and vaccuum for leaks and whatnot. Tank is clean, I had already cleaned it out when I restored it.

lain This is a screenshot from Fuelly for my 2011 Roketa 150cc with a 1.6 gallon tank (please ignore the 128.5,...entry error a couple years ago). With having only 0.8 gal. to work with, I can see that, maybe you are used to much better mileage with the 92cc. You may try tracking your mileage with Fuelly to find out where you stand. You should be able to click on my Fuelly below to see what my Jonway 250 is doing and get an idea of the site. Loren

I would check to see if the choke was opening all the way or what other system you have for cold starts.

A 150 at 45 to 50 mph is only going to get about 50 mpg. 50 mpg times .8 gal = 40 miles to bone dry.
That was one of the most frustrating things about the Lance 150 I had with the tiny gas tank under the floor boards which made it so I had to fill up 3 times a week.

Low Fuel Milage

I have one of those small tanks, too, but mine is/was a 50cc. I've ran out of gas before and I'm not even sure I can fit 3/4 of a gallon in there. More like .7 at the most. Most fill ups I put just a tad over a 1/2 gallon in.
Not bad though, a $1.25-1.50 (currently) for just over a 1/2 gal of premium 3 or so times a week goes a long way.

Have you pulled the plug....the color would tell if it were running really rich. Seems like the performance would suffer enough for you to notice if that were the case though.
If you're running 35 miles on a half gallon, that's 70 mpg. If you're doing a lot of stop and go (city driving), or all high speed open road work, then I wouldn't think 70 mpg isn't too bad for a 150.
Of course... I'd have a hard time accepting that kind of mileage from my scoot. But we drive different roads, and probably have different driving styles.

The plug was a perfect light mocha color, everything seems to be working great. My rides consist of a mix of both stop and go and open road, I drive about 35-40 on city roads and about 50-60 on fast roads, about half of both to get to work and back, everything else is pretty much city/town roads going 30-40. Half the time I carry a passenger, doesn't seem to change the mileage noticeably from when I'm riding alone.
Still, I ride a lot, and rolling up to the gas station telling the attendant that I want about a half gallon or less and seeing them roll their eyes is getting annoying. Also I plan to be going for long rides across states over the summer on this thing since it's actually really comfortable and enjoyable to ride, so having better mileage or maybe an aux tank idk... something to make me not get my arse stranded somewhere pushing this heavy scoot lol

The Lance Vintage had a nice double saddle that was great for - guess what - riding double but only had a single shock making for far less than 300 lbs carrying capacity. Then stopping to top off the tank because you had to ride 30 miles but had less than a full tank and ending up putting in only 0.25 gallons was a bit frustrating since you knew that if you paid at the pump that the station was paying more in credit card fees than you were paying for the gasoline. The crazy thing to me is that in the type of riding you are doing a 250cc scooter will generally get better fuel economy and usually comes with a 2.25 to 3 gallon tank for a range of 150 to 225 miles per tank. Going out for a ride in the country could get very interesting on the Lance Vintage. You ended up stopping for gas every time you saw a gas station and finally just set your route by gps in 30 mile hops from gas station to gas station. I even tried a brown gas unit to extend the range however the electrical draw from separating the hydrogen from the water (yes the first one blew up quite dramatically) negated the fuel savings effect although it did make the bike a bit more peppy and made it less likely to lean out at high speed. Much cleaner burning also.

A small jerrycan on the floor should do the trick, that's what I use on long trips, it is also a good excuse to stop and let the engine cool down a bit every time you have to fill up.

Can he replace the tiny tank with a larger one for more range?

It's a pain in the a@@ to fill mine up at the station. I'm doing it now only to figure out my mileage. Otherwise I got a 5 gallon at home I have anyway for the motorcycle that i use. That's one small tank! Mines around 1.3-1.4gallons

Hmm... not entirely convinced this is the supposed milage... I went to work and back, a total of 23 miles... Before going to work I had a completely full tank, arriving home from work I can see the bottom of the tank... Even for 0.8g tank that seems way too low to me, that would be what about maybe 30MPG? That's horrible for a scooter... It is completely stock, there are no leaks, so I am confused here, pretty sure these things are supposed to get like 60mpg+ stock.
