get a new tire. slime is junk, and running a plug should only be a temporary fix. I tried using one of those new permanent plugs and they don't hold worth a crap

I have had one in my scooter tire for over a year with no deflation at all dude, and my friend has one of the same plugs from my kit in his car tire and has had it since summer and same, no issues. We installed them by using rubber cement on the plugs and following the instructions that came with the kit.

Unfortunately there is no 100% guaranty that a plug is going to hold even long enough to get to a tire shop to get it replaced. Yes some people will have good results however too many will have them fail to make them a reccommended repair. Would you fly with an Airline that brags that 50% of the time their planes do not crash? How about 75%? Even % would not be good enough yet we take chances on running temporary tire patches with a higher rate of failure and deem it acceptable.

I guess it would also have to do with the size and shape of the hole. not all punctures are the same. my puncture was a little big and had a little gash, which threw the plug out and caused it to deflate very quickly. luckily it was on the rear, and I've had a flat front tire and I couldn't hold it up long enough to slow down. these tires are cheap and easy to change. I bet I could change a tire almost as quick as someone could do all the plug and rubber cement thing. couple of screw drivers and some soapy water and some air.

I doubt anyone in their right mind would tell you to do anything less than replace the tire. If something happened to you, they'd feel bad I'm sure, and in today's legal climate, they might even be sued. That being said, I have run plugs in my truck tires indefinitely, but a truck has four wide tires. You gotta do what you gotta do. It's your call. P.S. If you can get a new or even a decent used tire, it's almost as easy to replace as a bicycle tire.

I understand strapped for money. But please do NOT cheap out in any way on tires. Please.
I got a set of Tiger Paws for an old car, all four installed for $100. Turned out they weren't even worth that. Every time I turned a corner without stopping first, they would squeal for traction. They killed that car when I locked the brakes and skidded on them, and they never regained traction.
That was driving on four tires. I hate thinking what things would've been like if I'd been on my scooter instead. Dead comes to mind though.
Like scooter said, you gotta do what you gotta do. But please do try your best to get good decent tires as soon as you can. Please.

pistonguy, I wish the folks who think the world's going to pot and everyone's so bad, I wish they could encounter you, and others here (and elsewhere online). There's so many good people willing to help out someone they may never actually meet, just 'cause that someone is in need.
