Morphine give you a warm all is well feeling and really frightened one user I knew and one dose was all it took to get her to swear off recreational drugs all together which was what we were trying to convince her to do. For her one dose put her in a place that she never wanted to leave which gave her the willies when it started wearing off so she refused any more doses and toughed it out afterwards and has been free for about 30 years now. She thought she was artistic and talented when she was on and found that she is more artistic with a clear focused mind. For most of that get addicted to the opiate pain meds , it gives them energy. I would give me the great all is well and warm feeling , but at he same time it would give me energy . it puts many to sleep , but for most of the addicts I've talked to , it had had he opposite affect.

You feel you have energy but you are not really that sharp when on it and then after you try to move the mountain it makes you think you can move it all crashes on top of you. I dumped it all especially at the first signs of liver swelling.

We would be painting the outside of a house and I would be flying up and down the ladder sweating my as- off , lol. Percs and vicodine have a lot of Acetaminophen " Tylenol" which destroys the liver pretty darn quick . there are pain meds , such as " vicoprofen" which is a vicodine with ibuprofen instead of Tylenol.

Yeah, well, that vicoprofen is out for me then--ibuprofen is forbidden, it caused my silent reflux.
I've had the Hya-Apap before with zero issues. But not sure I took two at once back then. That was years ago.
I took a Tramadol a couple hours ago and oh happiness my foot isn't hurting anymore. I figure if it makes me loopy, at least it's just prior to bed anyways. Might cause some interesting dreams, huh.

And happy news--saw the dr this morn. They took out the stitches and rewrapped (in blue--Go Royals!) He's really pleased with how things are healing. Tom afternoon I remove the wraps and start a daily 10-15 min warm water soak with toes wiggling. And I can take a real bath again YAY!!!!! I am allowed stairs, just must limit my trips. So I can do stuff, like catalog my art library into my iPod app. Also yay! Fri I may attempt driving. If it feels ok, then I'm allowed to drive as long as I'm careful (meaning avoiding sudden braking) But no, no scooting. I knew better than to even ask. Sat I get to play the Jazz gig (really big hooray, that one, 'cause we just couldn't find a sub for me). Afterwards I get to try a sneaker on my left foot only (right must maintain bootie-ness until the next appointment in a month, sigh). If that feels fine, then I may ditch the crutches at home, and only use them out so people are careful around me (they'll notice crutches where they might not see the bootie). And I was wicked when he said about the sneakers, and asked "And high heels too, right?" He shot me a look like I was nuts, then realized I was joshing him and grinned. Hee hee! So great happy good news on the feet-front! >'Kat

Sylvrekat, I know it's a bit after the fact now, but why didn't you have your feet done in separate sessions? A ways back, the GF had her bunions done in separate operations. (V cut, plate & screws plus some shaving of the bones) Some of the pain meds had her feeling icky and nauseous... even causing crying spells... poor thing. I felt so bad for her. But at least she had one good foot to stand/bear weight on while healing between operations. 2nd op was not as bad since we knew what to expect and had devised better ways to mange things... plus meds that wouldn't make her so sick.
Once upon a time I had hernia repair done. My back would ache from being bent over... It would hurt like the dickens if I tried to stand or sit upright. They were giving me something called Fiorinol IIRC. It would make my toes feel warm then that would be followed by a wave of warm that would rush from my toes to the top of my head then fade away eventually from a fuzzy, buzzing warm sensation. Weirdest sensation I'm telling you, but it was the only way I could get the muscles to stretch without making me feel like I was being ripped apart at the incisions. Glad that finally passed... it was getting to be quite annoying.
I dabbled in weed as a teen from peer pressure, but couldn't afford to ever buy any... didn't like it anyway. I never did like not being clear headed and in control so it was easy to stay away from. Of course there was the beer drinking when I was a young man, but again I didn't like being in an uncoordinated state with stupid things being said and almost as a bystander hearing myself say nonsense and not being really able to stop it. Now, like you, I enjoy red wine with steak, white wine with cheese & crackers while I watch a movie on TV and ice cold beer with pizza or a burger. Always with food; as an enhancement to the meal, not to get any buzz from it... I never got into that literally pissing the life away state of affairs.
I worked 33 years in psychiatric hospitals and saw up close the pain and ruin that drug & alcohol abuse and addiction would bring to people... and not just the individuals themselves, but for their family, friends and co-workers as well. (if they were so fortunate as to be able to even keep & hold a job)
Anyway, glad to hear you are going to be getting back to having happy feet again. Heal fast.

You may want to set out a roll of razor wire too. My mom when she had hers done had someone step on both her feet before they healed and things were never the same after the redo to try and fix things. She did not want to have the crutches out in front of her for people to trip over as a protection so she would hide them when seated and have them angled behind her while standing instead so they were not that noticeable and offered no protection whatsoever.

bandito--I did both at once, because after we scheduled the operation for just the left toe as it hurt more, my right foot said "I'll show her just how much *I* can hurt!" and was murder for the next week. I didn't want to play "which foot hurts worse?" and asked about doing both. I guess the left foot's surgery is considered minor, so Dr G agreed with both. Plus it saves me money in the long run as I only pay for the room etc one time instead of two now. Only extra cost is the dr as I pay for three procedures regardless. So more cost now, but probably less than half had I split the surgeries. And really, my left foot has been pretty okay through all this. It'll ache a bit at times, but in more of a "you let someone cut me open" way rather than the right's "holy crap you cut apart my bone!" As I tell folks who comment on having both done, "Seemed like a good idea at the time." >'Kat

rocky, thanks for the warning story about your mom. I was seriously considering just pooh-poohing having the crutches at church, but now will definitely keep them for any outing. I do NOT want to have to go through all this again, not unless my left foot starts hurting.
Crutches ho!

Did the soak, and boy did I have happy feet after.
Only now, I have burning incisions. Either I didn't use enough Neosporin, or Mom's right that the wraps gave pressure that made things happier down there.
Sigh. Another Tramadol, down the gullet.

Kat - I had to learn to swallow my pride and do what the doctor recommended on more than one occasion. If its crutches then its crutches for as long as he says.
Today I have to walk with a cane but I can make it around OK without it unless.... Then I am left with looking for something to grab onto or planning how I am going to fall down.
Every fall is opportunity for some kind of trauma such as concussion, losing teeth, broken hip, cracked ribs, fractured vertebrae and so on. So we keep it safe. While you are still on the cusp of recovery you use your safety gear just like when you ride which currently for Kat is your crutches.

Luckily I was off the drugs before my kids were born . I did lose a couple cars and many material things along the with who knows how many thousands of $$ . when you are paying $50 - $70 for an 80mg oxy and your taking 2 a day " when possible" actually I don't remember going more then a day or two without atleast one in the three years I was using, so what a waste of time and money. Icouldnt imagine putting my kids through the problems that addiction comes with. Kat , glad to see you are getting some relief and I hope all goes well.

Oh I feel so clean! Took a good hot soak with bubbles. Wiggled my toes, not hard but lots. Washed my hair and self the far-easier way. And used the Aveeno/Neutrogena very gently on my feet, which itched terrifically.
Currently lying here with my feet just airing out. I shall slather on more Neosporin here in a bit than I did last night, tape on gauze, then socks. And hope the tingling and burning itching goes away.
Btb ricardo, yes my feet are both swollen. Right one is def' puffier than left. And if I can see the puffy, then they must be quite swollen. Poor itchy puffy violated feet.

I think there's an unhappy nerve in there, on the outside of my right foot where he actually cut the bone in two. It tingles and buzzes. And oh my goodness that poor little pinky-toe is HUGE. >'Kat
