The rub is that our Florida Puma can too easily catch up with you in a sprint at the lower speeds. I had one running beside the bike for an uncomfortable amount of time one dark night. I felt something brush my leg and just saw the shadow of it in the dark by my muffler when I glanced down and was really startled at how quiet they were with no huffing, puffing or sound of any foot falls. No rips or holes in the pants but it was way too close for comfort.

When I slow to under 30mph I get this nervous feeling as if I'm being chased by some creature , lol. Seriously , I'm not sure why , but I'm half expecting Bigfoot to grab me off the bike , or possibly some kind of huge hound with red eyes will be visible in my mirrors running after me , in which I would hopefully be able to grab my 1911 from my side before I get mauled, lol.

hillbillybob Have you tried those deer whistles on your bikes there? No I haven't. Back in my truckin' days, a lot of my partners in crime used them. I sort of figured if a deer couldn't hear my eighteen tires singing down the highway, or that big diesel engine breathing through twin, 5" exhaust pipes, he (or she), wasn't going to hear a whistle either. But since my two wheelers make so much less noise, maybe I should try a set of them, on just one, to see if I sneak up on fewer while riding that particular bike. On my way for coffee this morning, had to slow from 35mph to 10mph, and drop from 4th to 1st gear, while a goofey doe stood in the middle of the road, looking straight at me, trying to figure out just what that thing coming at her was. Never needed to brake, for she was a quarter of a mile up the road when first noticed, but she didn't leap into the woods until I was within 150 to 200' of her. By then I had slowed, and dropped a few gears, expecting 1 or 2 more to jump out in front of me, and follow their buddy. Non did, but I was ready. As I said earlier, this is almost a daily thing for me, and why I won't run much over 35 on our county roads.....even on the 1200cc machines. I grew up in greene county pa , which is considered a hick place to live , considering there are no main RDS that do not have woods or fields on either side, and the back roads are much worse. I now live in fayette county on the northern border of Greene , and it is no better when it comes to the the main and back roads. At night and early morn , you have a better chance of seeing a deer then not seeing one. During the late morn through the early evening before it starts to get dark , its not as bad. South western pa is a very conservative place to live . we have a big hunting and Coal mine community . well the coal mines have been going down hill since you know when , but I will not get into that .

We had lost track of time while waiting for someone who wanted to follow me out but never showed or called so it was after Midnight and I needed to be at work in the morning so I had to leave. There was a lot of desolate between the fishing camp and civilization that looked eerily similar to what Dante' and Durant presented as the roadway to their alleged adventures (See Dante's Inferno or Durant's Up To Date where on a dark road they...) Being rubbed against by something living that you could not really see or hear when you were basically riding the center line was very unsettling. I did not stop until I was well along on the lighted and busy main road pulling into the most busy place I saw which I believe was a Wendy's with a fairly full dining room.

Ever have the fun of running into desert coyotes wandering around residential streets at night Only during the day. They seem to know that at night drunk tourists from Canada and too many Rednecks in F250's are on the roads at night. Get them in my back yard during the day too many times.

Ever have the fun of running into desert coyotes wandering around residential streets at night To be honest , its not the known animals that bother me " other then deer " . but when it comes to the nervous feeling of being chased , I tend to think of the unknown creatures that may be wondering the back road woods at night !! Like some kind of flying creature , like a gargoyle , or something like Bigfoot , hel hounds , and things of that nature. Even certain alien beings would be a pretty scary encounter. Actually it really doesn't matter if you going slow or not when it comes to the aliens , lol.

Yeh , some of the pics others have drawn of the chupacabra are just like a gargoyle type creature with red eyes !! The red eyes thing is what makes many of these types of creatures scary. Some think its the weird dog type animal being found , but that's not even close to what many are seeing.

Actually it really doesn't matter if you going slow or not when it comes to the aliens , lol. Check the stories of the "Mothman" and "Flatwoods monster". and go WOT screaming into the night! (*right over the state line in West Virginia) I know mothman " not personally " , but I'm not sure about the flatwoods monster . I can probably name a good 25 different types of " monsters" that many have claimed they've seen. And yes I do believe in most . I believe that there are many other dimensions in which tend to become part of our own from time to time. When police officers put their reputation on the line by claiming things they have seen , its hard to look the other way. I also tend to believe some of the millions of people who claim to have had encounters. There is no such thing as the supernatural , only very large gaps in what many Perceive to be natural. I've had a few moments in my life when my dreams have brought a little clarification to there being more to we as humans then many think. I have dreamt of friends dying , then to wake up and find out they died as I was dreaming it. Just a few months ago my wife's sister was having a baby . I fell asleep in the afternoon " as she was delivering the baby. I dreamt of the baby being held by the doctors and blood was all over and everyone was crying. After I woke up " couple hrs later " I told my wife what I dreamt. About 2 yrs later she gets a call from her mom who told her that the baby died twice due to the umbilical cord being wrap around her neck and blood loss . when they got her out , and they cut the cord the clamps flew off and the baby lost a lot of blood. She stop breathing twice and was brought back , but ended up dying a day later. This of course is not a pleasant memory but I tell u this because the world is a much different place with many senses and truths that not many are open to, but then again many are open to, just made fun of or look upon as crazy for believing in . thousands of yrs ago humans were more in touch with the universe then most are now. Today with the distractions of , TV , and material things , we have become numb to these senses and realities. How does one from 2000+ years ago know of other star systems without the tools to be able to see them . it becomes real when the tools of today varify what the ancients wrote about and worshiped. And when they claimed many of the knowledge was given to then by the star beings , its hard to deny it happened. This is the same with the afterlife . its hard to deny it when you hear the story's of the ones who die , then are suddenly watching themselves being worked on . some then go to a place that could be considered heaven and claim to talk to Jesus or god , only to be told that they have to go back, next week thing they know they awake back in their body and can describe to a T what they saw as the doctors worked on them . It kind of sucks that we will prob never in this lifetime know what is really going on , And what all is really involved with life as we now know it . what more is out there that we have the ability to unlock but will prob never get the chance ?

We as a civilization have barely begun. There are parts of our own galaxy with a million year head start. Who knows what awaits and what we'll find. BTW, if you haven't already, check out "Night Fright" with Brent Holland. In one interview with Jim Marrs they delve into ancient technology that should't be there but is.

I guess I'm lucky, The only moving hazards here are other drivers. I can't imagine how scary hitting a deer must be. Doing it Twice means you're a Professional... Deer crossing is in the top five/ ten of vehicle fatalities........ I'm just glad you're still in one piece, lots of other folks are not so lucky, especially on two wheels. Time for jokes------ I gotta ask, when are ya gonna send us some Venison Jerky? Deer meat makes an excellent burger...... a bit too lean but, delicious Doe a Deer, a female meal....... Sorry but, deer is good eats........ Unless of course it gets you first.

We had a herd that was actually car-smart. Was crossing a narrow bridge and Bucky's head popped out of the woods. I stopped, as did the oncoming car. Bucky looked at me, looked at other car, did this several times, then stepped out and stood between us. Then about four does came out and crossed, while Bucky kept checking on me and other car. Does got across, Bucky checked us once more then also crossed.
Dunno how a deer learns about cars and making sure they're not moving, but Bucky sure learned.
