Linhai IS the real maker (it's a better built Chinese scooter) and yeah, a 300 with only a couple of thousand miles on it sounds good. BTW, what year is it

There is a 2007 JCL MP-250A with <2000 miles on my local Craigslist - guy wanted $1900 initially, now down to $1399 - so your price sounds good. The JCL has a Linhai-Yamaha engine...

Hey Reggie, WELCOME to the forum!!!! ( You too Floridagull )
$1,000.00 for that scooter seems Very Decent, JMHO.... I would be cautious though.
Either you're going to get a VERY good Deal or, You're getting someone's headache.
First off, Make sure you get the Title and a Bill of Sale at the time of purchase!!!!!!
For the price, this is a very decent scooter, That is why I suggest caution.
Take a test ride and use your own judgement before exchanging money.!!!!!
Please, check out the scooter and let us know how it goes,
If I had the cash on hand this would be a No Brainer if things seem legit.......

I did not buy the one I listed. Instead I was at at local bike repair shop today and asked the owner was that a good price. He said I got one for $900 I am selling for a person. Allen had the title from the original owner who bought it new. I looked at it and went and got the money. It rides good, plenty of power and I weigh 283 lbs. It is a 2006. The other one I passed was also a 2006 blue color. It also ran good but was waiting on a title. In Mississippi it takes about 2-3 weeks from the time you apply to when you get it. The only thing, the fuel and the temp gauge don't work. I checked the fuses, all good. Is there something else that works in common with these 2 gauges. Thank ahead of time. Reggie

A 2006 scooter with that little mileage means that it has been sitting for long periods of time, maybe it was broken down at some point and the owner put it aside and neglect it; I would check the fuel lines, battery, old fuel, old oil, old brake fluid, cracked tires, carburettor and corrosion.

Linhai has the benefit of having partnered with Yamaha and being licensed by them to build that series of engines which were for the European version of the Yamaha Majesty that was available as a 260 and then a 279cc scooter.
The things to watch out for are the 10 year old rubber on those bikes and scheduled maintenance that is often skipped over. The tires if over 5 years old need to be tossed and with the 300 even at 2 years you may be taking chances as tires harden and loose the ability to stick in corners and while braking. You will not as easily put a foot down and save a 400 lb bike like you may be used to with a 200 lb 150 so you really do not want to take chances with the tires losing grip on a lane change or while stopping.
Remember that water cooled bikes need to have the coolant flushed out and replaced every 2 years so that coolant gone corrosive does not dissolve the impeller on the water pump and start clogging radiator cores. Brake fluid also needs to be flushed every 2 years. It is in you best interest to ensure those two items along with the tires and oil/gear lube changes are all current before riding the bike for more than a quick test ride or you could be facing radiator and water pump failures along with replacing brake cylinders and calipers.
Keep in mind John Maxwell's "Law of the Price Tag" which states that: "Sooner or later you are going to have to pay it and the longer you put it off the more its going to cost you." I prefer Engine Ice for coolant and highly advise that on the Yamaha engine a good 4T Synthetic Motorcycle Engine Oil and a Synthetic Gear Lube be used on it.
I live in the Tampa Bay area and ride year round in a Semi-Tropical climate so the heat and humidity here helps us see more quickly the results of letting these things slide. Some 10 year old bikes that were used for a few hundred miles and then lost interest in and parked for 10 years without preparing them for storage or maintaining the coolant and brake flushes (yes they need to be done even if you do not use them) are in pretty sorry shape internally when you try to put them back in service however that may not become apparent for a few hundred miles and then things start going wrong however by that time its too late to play catch up on maintenance and now its time to replace parts.
Ride safe!

I've got a 2005 (although it should count as a 2007 which is when they uncrated and prepped and replaced and got ready to drive) with almost as few miles--about 2600. Mostly due to the driver being "broken down" at multiple points. However, I've kept him plugged into the Battery Tender Jr, and had his oil changed and everything that needed doing every spring except one. I start him up periodically to keep everything fluid and going. So just because you find a low-mileage bike doesn't always mean it's a neglected bike. >'Kat
