So I am currently at work have been searching for an answer to this, even called the shop I bought the scooter from originally. Bought a new 150cc long case 157qmj I think it is, the new electronics that came with it all hooked up to my original harness except the r/r, my harness is a 4pin and the new is a 5pin. All the wires are the same color save the 5pin has a pink wire. The dealership said I may have to either change to my old stator, rewire for the 5pin, or it may work and just be for accessory power. Just wondering if anyone had ran into this and had no problems just running with the old r/r. The wires coming off the new stator are the exact same number and color and connections, so it has me thinking that maybe they sent the wrong r/r, or is for accessory power, like a phone charger.

I would try it without the pink wire and see if it runs and all lights work,,I dont think you will need that wire..

I have no idea to be honest what the pink wire goes to, it is on the new 5pin and my scooter has a 4pin installed, just trying to get a heads up, I get out of work in about 30min stopping to get gas for the scooter, and firing her up for the first time after the engine swap.

Ok,,I edited my post because I realize the wire must come from the new RR and your old harness or plug only has a 4 pin,,so yes just try it and see if it fires,,keep us posted,,i think its just for alarm or other accessory.

Whoa.... STOP....
The 5 pin r/r that came with your stator is the one you want use. The pink is the same as the white, not an accessory wire.
I have not pulled the flywheel on one of these to see what kind of stator it is, it may be a floating ground( two phase), full wave stator. Or, it may be single phase, half wave... Most of the 4 PIN R/R's are only half wave.... There are some 4 pin R/R's that are full wave, the R/R will have fins on the top and side....
The pin out on your new R/R is as follows.
Yellow A/C stator input (Line 1)
Pink A/C stator input (Line 2)
Green - Ground (Ground to frame, not battery)
Red - 12 volt + DC out to battery (battery charge circuit)
Black - (12 volt sense) (You hook the black wire to your ignition accessory circuit - This is not a charge wire or a power source: The function of this detects the charge and adjust the accoudingly)

I figured dmartin would chime in and be the guy for this,,he is a pro on RR and stators,,I just checked my service manual and all I found was a 4 pin pinnout.

So looks like I need to cut the wires and wire in the 5pin then. Will I be able to just cut the old plug off put connectors from the correct wire and plug into the 5pin and then just run a black wire to my ignition, and is there a specific wire I should attach to at the ignition?

Yeah and KieKara is (as Dennis Rodman would say) - "Doing me a solid", so I'm more than happy to lend a hand and make sure he get's it hooked up right. Sometimes I get my terminology screwed up because I don't work with it on an everyday basis, but I have a solid electrical engineering background and know how almost all the wires go together. I'm also familiar with Chinese scooter wire color code. I really, Really need to get my Stator video done... I'm doing a video explaining all the different GY6, 125/150cc stators. I have every stator, 6, 8, 11, 12 and 18 pole stators and every R/R from 4 to 7 pin... I'm going to do a video showing how they all work and ultimately will do one testing the power output of all with their paired R/R, and mixing matching.......... |

Also, make your ground as short as possible. Red to Red In your ignition switch - Black to the black wire on the new R/R |

If you want to wait a few days, I can make you an adapter harness (for free) so you can just plug everything together. But if you have that itch, splicing, soldering or butt connectors will work. |

I was actually able to get the connection apart and will plug onto new r/r, so only wire I have to splice is the one to ignition. Thank you for the help going to put on now.

All you need to do is , remove the pink wire and pin from the clip" harness" . next rearrange the wires and pins in the harness to match each other then slide the harness into the clip and use some electrical tape to hold keep the harness and regulator from separating. Hope u understand what I mean.
That's what I did . I have a 4 pin harness and a 5 pin regulator. The regulator actually has a 6 pin clip but only 5 wires.
