ok, just did the valves and the intake was too tight couldn't get the .002 feeler in. And the exaust was too far, (from what I adjusted to the first time @ .003) .004 is where it was. re-adjusted in. and ex. back to what the manual says @ .002in. and .003ex. what I didn't get was how do I have a louder knock @ these settings. soo.......... I re-adjusted the ex. to .002 almost no knock but present 30-35 and then again at 44-46mph (bike speed). Also, I lost a little bit of my top power though. Any ideas on how to make her run better?  ? |

I don't pay any attention to the manual and set both valves at .004, they tap some, maybe due to my a9 cam, but my bike runs good and fast

i realize your a 50cc and mine is a 150
but i always set mine at .004 in and .005 out
never heard anything

But, then again I'm use to my v8. I set them @ .008in and .010out
I'll set'em @ .004 and get back to you guys a little later today.

500+ mi. and still tap but more of a clack when warmed up. it sounds very loose.

Well they should not loosen up that is for sure, unless the lock nut came loose. So check the valves again and see if the nuts lock nuts are coming loose.
Also what weight oil are you using?

I just did my first valve adjustment today at 3,000 miles!
Last year at 6900-7200 rpms 14 gram sliders 55-57mph.
This season I have had lower performance lately I had 50-53mph and then today I adjusted to .004 intake .005 exhaust 55-56mph
Adjusted carb. fuel air mixture too
It really made a difference!

Why are you using such thin oil, that is almost like water? Most use 10w40 all year round. That could be the reason for the louder tapping.
The motors are not built with tight tolerances.
