Hmm... Now it seems I am experiencing the same issue with my stock CDI, except for the kickback. Just hard to start, I am starting to think that orange coil may be going. I'll have to check later. Just started snowing when I was on my way home on my scoot. I am really starting to hate snow >.> Yup, my orange ignition coil is dying, I switched to my stock ignition coil and got it to start with minimal effort. Looks like I need a new ignition coil. Any suggestion on performance coils for a 50cc > "100cc" BBK?

Just curious: If stock works; why aftermarket?

I agree, why not save a little money and get another stock replacement? Did you notice a difference when you initially switch to the "performance" set?

The performance CDIs always seem to make it run better, and the performance ignition coil DID spark brighter and felt much smoother when I first got it. Now, when I can get it to work, it works like a stock coil pretty much. The stock coil I am using now is actually a stock coil from a 150cc scooter one of my friends has decaying in his back yard. The coil I was using before the performance coil was the stock 50cc coil, but it started having starting issues, then I got the performance orange coil. I am looking to get a new coil to replace the old performance coil.

THAT, Sir, will solve any and all performance issues! (especially when you get around to adding a turbo to the 150)

Everything else has been stripped from it besides some plastic body pieces.

Given that, I wonder how cheap you could get a USED GY6 150cc engine from one of the motorcycle junk yards in your area: Then perhaps you could sell the toy 50cc engine for half, 2/3 or maybe even the same. And you would end up with a scooter that - as far as the cops know - is 49cc but in fact is a real machine !!!! And with the knwoledge you have attained in doing BBKs, maybe even end up with a screamer !

Not that we haven't thought of it already. I went to the junk yards in my area, none of them have scooters. He's also been trying to find a junkyard to sell it along with a few other scooters to, but no one wants them either. I've also thought of putting a 150cc engine in my scoot, but the frame attaches to the engine on the bottom, like most short case GY6, otherwise I would have ordered a 150cc engine already haha

Really - what I said was just a combination of kidding along with you, thinking out loud with you, and pure blather. I mean - yes - I think it would be great fun to stuff a 150 into a 50. But so - it would be fun for me to stuff a 250 into my scoot (or, better yet, a 400!). Won't ever do it, don't really WANT to do it, but it's fun to yammer about. Sorry if i cam across in some other way. ps: the 150 in my scoot - and the 150 engines I've seen on FleaBay - attach to the frame on the TOP of the engine (next to the carb).

No harm done, just reminded me how frustrating it was when I did try that lol. Yeah I was mentioning my frame attaches to the bottom of the engine because I had already looked into it and couldn't find any 150 engines with bottom mounts. I do want to keep my scoot running for a long time, years if I can. I love riding it. Always looking into ideas to make it more reliable and faster, though I feel I have reached the most I can do with a 50cc turned into a "100cc" with a BBK. I am comfortable with the speeds I get on my tiny scoot though and just want it to run forever haha.

I hate when I post something and when I go back and read it , it sounds like I was being a smart as! Or something . by now I think most of us know rcq is a good guy , as is lain , jersey and many others " sorry if I didn't mention you , I would have to type forever to mention all that I think are good people here " . One of these yrs we're gonna have to go on a cross country scoot ride , wow that would take awhile , lol , and many fuel stops . I wonder how many scoots would break down from riding that far ?
