Not sure about yours, but I have that exact same scoot and my odometer is in kilometers not miles
I had the same problem with the exhaust, it broke off of its brackets, and one of the bolts actually broke off inside the threads so that was a pain, but with how hard i ride it it's doing very well.

Same problem here with the 2014 model. The only way I have been able to keep the stock exhuast on the road is a buddy with a welder. I see an after market exhuast in my near future. The stock air box is also become brittle on my ride. I think a black inconspicuous uni filter is the next item being installed. My desire for a stock appearance is slowing falling apart with the cheap Chinese parts currently installed.

Yea I mean I expected problems for the price you could easily drop 3k on a scoot and prob not worry much about it but I also wanted a project to work on, have you upgraded anything in it? All I've done so far is get a performance ignition coil and performance cdi, but turns out it's the wrong cdi, I bought a dc and I'm pretty sure the scooter is ac Other than that id like to upgrade the belt and paint the whole thing A lot of people have this scooter in florida so I want mine to be a little different, I see a VIP atleast once a day driving around Doubt you see any though haha, I'm from nj, I probably see more scooters in one day down here then I saw in nj for the 23 years I lived there

I have that same scoot style, I had problems with the muffler as well as with the air box, after tracking the gas consumption and performed before and after removing the air box, I proved that it is a piece of junk attached to the scooter; it is in the garbage can where it belongs, I'm using a unifilter now.
I replaced the CDI as well as the coil too, and made some modifications to the CVT, 12g sliders and 7k spring, the sliders where getting out of place constantly, so I removed them and put back the rollers, I will try next the sliders again with a performance variator and see how it runs. Mine came with a 1P52QMI engine.

How do you know what size uni filter to use? And did you have to adjust the carb after?

Yup,, If the big numbers or KPH are on the top and MPH small under them,,then more than likely the odometer is in Km not Miles..he can do a quick test,,I would think he would have figured it out by now though..4000km later..lmbo!!!

How do you know what size uni filter to use? And did you have to adjust the carb after? After installing a UNI filter more than likely your scooter wont even run right in the mid to top,,it will need to be rejetted.Atleast mine was that way...do a freeflow exhaust along with the UNI and up jet,,that will be the best mods you EVER do to the GY6 IMO!

How do you know what size uni filter to use? And did you have to adjust the carb after? murkyapricot Filters are usually two sizes (NOT always), one for 50cc carbs (38mm) and the other for 125cc+ carbs (42mm), mine is 125cc but the engine base an parts are pretty much the same than a 150cc, I bought the 42mm "High performance air filters" from Scrappy's, it came with the pre-filter as well, fits on my scoot without issues. Another thing I'm planning to experiment with is to put an extension hose on the carb's manifold to place the filter facing the front of the bike, some place where it gets more air and water can't get in; my scooter has a decorative grill on the plastic front, that might be useful to catch the bigger particles, then the pre-filter and filter would take care of the rest.

I haven't rejetted mine yet, but I had to adjust the A/F screw on the carb to make it richer, it was running lean.

I saw some real nice nylon cord reinforced polypipe at Homedepot,,its like $5 for 3ft.I bet the 2" will fit right on the back of the carb then you can relocate that UNI anywhere you like,,mine is in the stock airbox,,but I have five 3/4" holes drilled in the box,,i kinda like my idea cause it keeps the UNI out of the water and major road dust but still get the performance of having it there.

Hey guys, wow I haven't logged in in a minute! I definitely have tested my Odo and it seems absolutely like it's much closer to an accurate reading in Miles than Kilos. ricardoguitars - Thanks for the info on the uni. I was hesitant to go with the one from Scrappy without knowing for sure I wouldn't need to do any extra work to make it fit. That cross bar in there put a lot of doubt in my mind about that one. I'm just going to wait until I get a new carb beforehand since I don't really care to drill out mine to be able to adjust the A/F mixture. I'd rather just replace it altogether for a better quality part and that way I can do my upjetting before any gas ever enters the bowl (I'm lazy, you see).

We also just decided they other day that we'll, erm, I, will be adding a TaoTao BWS 150 to the stable this spring/early summer. I'm looking forward to having two of these things to tweak and try different things on.

Yes Captain,, All you will need is a short piece of that pipe,,Id say 6" to get you through the cross bar then just mount the UNI. Kinda like an extension..keep us posted,,I really enjoy seeing how far the stock taotao's will go,,I was going to run mine until it blew but then I got antsy and did a BBK at 4K km,,it ran perfect up to that point, the original piston was a little scuffed on one side with some carbon down it,not sure why?..lol..oh well,,maybe next time.

Haha I'm like you, I'm looking to hold off on any kind of BBK until im having problems with the stock piston and head. That really goes for a lot of the stock parts really. In just curious how long they'll go until they start to wear down. So far so good with just a changed plug and coil.
