Yeah man you cant,, The rings break into the jug they are used in,,so not a good idea,,anytime you hone you need to replace rings IMO. I have a jug , piston and rings with less then 1000 miles on them " probably more like 700 miles . if we can get together , I can send them to someone who can hone the cylinder and maybe someone can buy a new set of rings then he'll be set. I'll post a pic . I have a good stock jug, piston and rings also if he wants to just pay the ride,,it has about 4000km on it,,would need a hone and rings like yours,,then just a gasket kit and hes ready to rip...I should probably just buy a hone kit for 57-63mm since Im going to be doing this hobby the rest of my life...I already purchased a 20 ton shop press from HF and man,,that thing was awesome doing the gears on my scoot,,the intermediate gear pressed off/on like butter...if any of you guys need gears pressed I will do it for free,,just pay the ride both ways

Jug and piston ,rings . . . I had to clean the piston up a little but it wasn't bad . Yeh may be a good idea.

I have the stock piston, head, and jug still. It is very worn in, about 30k miles on it. Last time I installed it it seemed to have lower compression but worked just as normal once started. I last used it about a couple months ago, back in November. geh3333 not sure if you're jug and piston would be good with mine, I have a 50cc BBK up to 100cc. Your parts look like 150cc parts.

30K miles,,holy crap!! Id be happy with 15k.. Wonder how the bottom end is looking?..I would save my pennies and get a $300 drop in replacement for it IMO.
That motor doesn't owe you a dime man!!

Yeh 30k is very high , I have over 16k and i thought that was kinda high. My odometer only reads over 12k . however my speedo cable was broke and removed at the beginning of this summer . I just got a new one about a month or so ago , so when I say over 16k there is a chance its more like 17k considering I put an average of 6 k every season . I'd like to know for sure what it is .

GEH: That 16K IS high ans not correct. You can tell from the video you posted you were going downhill and thus traveling a shorter distance. I think 5k is more accurate.
(sorry, folks ~~~ inside joke)

Yeah, I've been to heck and back multiple times on my 50cc jug and piston and head. I'd really like to get my 100cc working properly, but not sure what's wrong with it and it's driving me crazy not being able to get around.
The 50cc jug/piston/head etc doesn't even look bad. When I first pulled it months ago it had a lot of oil deposit on it but that's it. I cleaned all of that off since then with a wire brush.

It usually builds up around the inner lip of the top of the cylinder where the rings stop and on top of the piston itself . u will sometimes get some darkening of the underneath of the piston " that is under the pin "

I'm not sure what I should do at this point. I'm guessing I should crack open the engine and see what the condition of the piston and rings are, and maybe put the new rings in. I am just afraid if I haven't already damaged the gaskets that if I keep opening the engine I will damage the gaskets and render them useless if I haven't already done that.
I have a set of rings, I just haven't even attempted to install them because of lack of new gaskets. The gaskets I use are 100cc 50mm bore gaskets, and the head gasket is a super thick black gasket with red around the edges and a metal ring in the middle of the gasket. The gasket on the bottom of the cylinder is a regular cardboard looking gasket for 100cc.
Is it possible to make my own gaskets, or use something to repair the gaskets so I can keep opening and tinkering with the engine till it is 100% good?

If u happen to rip a gasket uncan use gasket maker to help seal it up . many do this with no problems. Even if the gaskets turnout to be OK u can put a thin coat of gasket sealer / maker around the gasket to help it seal just to be safe . or if u can get some gasket paper u can trace the old one and cut out a new gasket to use.
