I can see the use of a lift on many motorcycles but I just can't see the smaller lift being of any really help on these scoots . unless like I said if u have back problems. I don't see any reason I'd ever need to be under my scoot. Other then some screws for the plastic side panels. Which I can just as easy sit down and reach under and then unscrew them . also the smaller lift seems like u would still need to lie down to get under it . the funny thing is if someone gave me one I would use it I don't like the smaller one. The jack is right where I want my hands to be and, like you said, it's not tall enough.

I think the other video showed the technique better. To get a 45 degree angle, the stones need to be moving up and down at the same speed they are rotating. You'll see the pattern and you can adjust your stroke and rpm until you get a nice crosshatch pattern. So just to be totally clear so I can make sure I understand this; you oil the tool and cylinder up and adjust the tool to where the pads all touch the inside of the cylinder, then you use the drill on a low setting and move the tool up and down at the same speed that the tool is rotating in order to achieve the desired results being the 45 degree angled crosshatch inside the cylinder, right? And that's it? Sounds really simple to be honest, is there any way a novice like me could accidentily mess up and how would I avoid that?

That's what I was saying earlier , its not that hard . and the good thing is if u mess up just do it again . and not mess up .

I have the small one,, If I get the ride on type I can use it to work on mowers as well..
Its so much easier to have everything at stomach/chest height...
But like Geh said,,its not bad working off a crate,,thats what I been doing for 35 years..lol

Yeh I can accomplish the same thing the small one does , with a floor jack . and a piece of wood . have the wood secured to the jack and the frame secured to the wood.

Just replaced the gaskets. I tried to replace the rings too but when I was trying to gap the new rings I broke one so I am just using the old rings still. I did end up honing the cylinder, however pointless because no new rings.
The popping sound went away now that I have the new gaskets in, must have been the old gaskets.
There is still oil being burned up and a tiny bit of very light blue smoke when I hit the throttle, I am guessing it is because of the rings I am using (the old ones) because the gaps are not right?

Ohh dewd,, You should just wait for new rings,,especially if you honed out the cylinder, now your going to have to re hone it again..I set my ring gaps to .009 top .011 bottom and have loads of compression and no smoke,,not even close to being broke in yet...oil rings where both at .008 from factory so i left them alone.Anything more than .012 and i would get new ones,,especially the top,,you can get chatter, scuffing, and blow by if they are too far out of tolerance.
Glad your headed in the right direction at least!

Where can I get rings for a 50mm kit? I need a dependable source. The last 2 sets of rings I got were already too large of gaps and were unusable. The set I just broke was a set for a 52mm kit that I was filing down to size, right when I finally got it down to size (after 4 hours of filing it down with a random metal file I found that was weak at best) I broke it by an accidental slip of my fingers and pushed one side of the ring while holding the other and it snapped into 3 pieces.

I didnt even check the ring gaps before I installed my bbk, lol. I just installed them and everything was fine.

John They where installed over 3 yrs ,17,000 miles ago . I did space them correctly . I was told the rings should have been gapped properly already , however I know that's not always the case , and where the noise is coming from I wouldn't expect that. However I'm at a point where I really do not have a clue what it could be so anything is a possibility.
