is the muffler and engine pipe one piece ? take it off and with a vacuum in reverse blow it in reverse . John Yes it is all one piece, I do not own a vacuum, I only have a broom. Poor life sucks. Have you cleaned out wet oily mess from inside a muffler, and what did you use? It seems it's very thick and has coated the entire inside in a very thick layer of oil/gas. I use VROOM for that.

Hahahaha,,Im sure they have an adapter for that Alley,,hope he doesn't try that one..lol I was at HF today and saw a 2"-7" hone,,that would work in a 150 but not a 50...Im going to search ebay for a smaller one that will do 50-250. Better off with a cheap drill from HF...than trying to man that dremel..hehehe... I want to get a bike lift soon. Harbor Freight has theirs on sale for $295, plus, from what I hear, I'll want to spend another 50-60 dollars for a good wheel chock they have. Any of you guys have a lift? I'll be Dmartin does. If so, how do you like it? You mean like a lift so u can lift the scoot up and work on it ? If so what would u do to it after u lift it up ? Its not like we rotate tires on these things nor would it make it any easier to change the brakes . I guess u can change the oil , however by the time you have it lifted u could have changed the oil . I'm just mess in with u , but honestly I really don't see the point .

Just remember backfiring is a LEAN condition, AND white smoke is gas not oil. If it is blueish it is oil. So backfiring plus white smoke to much gas and since backfireing is a lean condition YOU HAVE A BAD AIR LEAK and I would bet it is where the pipe connects to the motor(head). And since that was broken before and if you have not fixed that and put in a new EXHAUST gasket that is where most likely the air leak is at. NOW if you do not fix it things will get worst for you because it will damage your exhaust valve then you will need a new valve and or new head and or new piston if the valve breaks and damages the piston. So get it fixed otherwise it will cost you a of a lot more than a couple bucks now. Alleyoop After changing the head, and everything the scoot still backfires. The backfires seem to be coming from the muffler into the engine and out the tailpipe at the same time. There is a decent amount of oil and gas buildup from when the scoot wasn't running well stuck in the muffler to the point where it seems much heavier than it was before. Also, it's spewing out TONS of white smoke for about the entire warmup, after it gets on the road it stops smoking. I am guessing this may be a cause or THE cause of the backfires, I think my piston rings may be letting out too much oil, since my engine seems to EAT OIL. I am also suspecting running rich due to too large main jet, but I have a jet set on the way. I did get new rings but the new ones had gaps that were already too large so I am sending them back and getting new ones. How do I remove the buildup so I can ride without the backfires? Brake cleaner? I already know about the torch method but I do not want to do that method because my muffler is already a bit messed up. Money is a problem otherwise I would have got myself a new muffler already. As I said, I replaced everything, except the exhaust pipe, it still backfires. I AM trying to figure out the cause, I think it is the buildup of wet oily/gas stuff on the inside of the muffler now because it does not come from inside the engine, the backfires come from the pipe. I can hear them int he pipe and it almost seizes the engine. It sounds like you're spitting out unburned gas and maybe oil into your exhaust.

I believe once he gets the new rings in and the cylinder honed " other way around " he will be OK .

I don't like to lie down on the creeper and work on the bikes. I like to sit in a chair and work. I would use the lift for taking lower panels off, pulling the engine, the cvt parts, the front end, wheels, etc. I have five scoots now, and I plan to part out the two 50cc ones. It would be really nice to have them up a few feet off of the ground.

My friend got one for the Goldwing I found for him (from HF). Sold the bike, might consider selling the lift.

I can sit on some cardboard and reach everything from the CVT to the oil plugs . also when pulling the engine I like it as close to the ground as possible. However I do understand lifting it up a couple ft so u can sit in a chair or on a bench and work on the CVT or lower body parts . it would be a little more comfortable especially if somone has back problems .

Not sure how big it is by the image or if it would fit this, this is the dremel I have: Lain, I know where you're coming from. I know what it's like to work with practically nothing. I know people are going to say I'm crazy, but if I HAD to get the scoot together and could not borrow or buy the honing tool, I'd be tempted to try a bit of medium to fine sandpaper and lightly scuff the inside of the cylinder. I DO mean lightly, and try to copy the pattern you see created from the hone by going around the cylinder at a 45 degree angle and then back around at the opposite 45 degrees. Either that or just skip it and try to get by until you can get some dough. It sounds like you had a timing problem, but you said your valve/s were chipped, and that's a toughie. Just don't blame me if you mess it up. You have to know what a hone does, and how to use it, in order to try to copy the effect. You need some very light scratches in your cylinder wall. Good luck.

Yeah the exhaust was chipped so I ended up replacing the head because I could buy a new one with new valves already installed for the same price as valves and the tools to put them in. Figured it would be easier. It didn't solve the problem though which has gotten so bad that I won't even ride my scoot anymore in fear of ruining it.

My friend got one for the Goldwing I found for him (from HF). Sold the bike, might consider selling the lift. I read some reviews on it. The two biggest issues besides the cheap wheel chock were that you have to fill up the pump with hydraulic fluid, and that the pumps tend to fail quickly.

I wish I knew someone that works at this level with these. It's really hard for me to afford something like this I'll only use once, plus not to mention I will also need to obtain a drill somehow because all of the honing tools look like they would be too big for a dremel. I'm also guessing it's not advisable to do it by hand either, even with the flexhone tools?
