I have a Tao Tao Paladin CY-150 that isn't getting fuel out of the gas tank. When I try to start the scooter there is not fuel even reaching the fuel filter. Here's the checks that I did:
Removed fuel cap, attempted to start. No go; No change. Removed hose from the square metal petcock that includes the vacuum hose, and a fuel line that leads to the carburetor. Blew into the fuel tank; tank bubbled as it should Blew into the vacuum hose; had flow. Removed the hose from the carburetor and blew into the petcock; No flow (which I assume is the be expected since the vacuum is needed to open up the petcock. After several attempts of starting, there is no fuel getting from the tank and into the fuel lines.
The Paladin CY-150 seems to be a little different than most GY6. From the youtube vids I watched, most GY6s have their gas tank above the carburetor, allowing gravity to flow the fuel down. This one has the fuel tank below the carburetor and fuel has to climb from the petcock to the carburetor.
Does anyone know where to go with this from here? I am unsure on what exactly pulls the fuel out of the tank and into the fuel lines. I've checked the vacuum hoses and all seems to be good there too. I've heard it could be the fuel pump, but I'm not sure if the square petcock is considered the fuel pump or whether there is a pump in the fuel tank. I took some pictures, but can't seem to figure out how to post them up on here.
Thanks for any help you guys can give!

The "square petcock" you refer to is the fuel pump. It runs off of the vacuum pulses the engine creates when turning over. Did this issue just start? If so it sounds like you need a new pump. You can try priming the carb bowl with fuel to get it to start and see if it starts the pump working.

Thanks!
How would I prime the carb? Put fuel directly into the carb and start it?
I took the fuel pump off and started blowing through the vacuum spout. Should that have started pulling fuel from the tank and out through hose that links to the carburetor? It still wasn't even pulling the fuel out of the tank.
Also, is there any kind of upgraded fuel pump I could get for this scooter?

And it sort of did just start. The bike only has about 150km on it though. Had a similar situation happen to it when I had 34km on it. Bike shut down while in the road. Happened to be the plastic piece pinching the vacuum hose coming out of the intake manifold. I'm probably going to change all the vacuum hose while I'm at this, as I've heard that it used to be necessary.
The problem started when the bike shut off while driving on the road (if that unveils any more details).

To prime the carb turn the Overflow hose up and pour 1 1/2 ozs of fuel. Here is a great fuel pump, you can google for it some other dealers may have it cheaper. www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/eppages/mikunifuelpump1.phpBut put up a picture of the Carb area and the fuel pump and tank. Let me ask was it running good before and what happened that all of a sudden it is not running. Did you change something or add something? you may have something hooked up wrong I do not know how mechanical you are. Alleyoop

Well easy enough to test, Take the FUEL HOSE off the Carb and Put it in a cup and crank it, fuel should stream into the cup.
QUESTION: I see the Fuel Filter between the Tank and the Fuel Pump, Where is the FUEL OUTLET on the tank, TOP OF TANK or ON THE BOTTOM of the tank.
Reason I ask is if the FUEL OUTLET is on top of the tank that means the pump actually has TWO things to be able to do. 1, have enough Suction to pull the gas up into the hose and have fuel flow to the FUEL PUMP so it can then PUMP it up to the Carb.
Also check the other VACUUM Hose that I see on the other side of the INTAKE MANIFOLD make sure NO VACUUM hose from that side is OPEN to the AIR or disconnected.
The Vacuum Hose on the Left side Looks good 1 hose going to the ACV valve on the carb and the other hose goes down to the FUEL PUMP. Check the other Vacuum hose. Alleyoop

Yea the fuel pump is correctly connected. But if I blow in (or suck out) air from the vacuum spout, should I get fuel flow from the tank even if turned off? Just wondering if this would be a sure fire way to determine if the fuel pump is the problem.
Yea it's a shiny new bike lol. Still in the upgrading process to turn this chinese machine into something more efficitient lol.

TO have fuel flow YOU NEED SUCTION, easyiest is take the fuel hose OFF the carb and put it in a cup and crank it. It should stream out into the cup. Alleyoop

Here is a picture of what your carb looks like and is labeled with what each thing is. Check your for the FUEL RATIO Mixture screw yours may be plugged. Alleyoop

I'll check that as well. Won't be able to get back on it until Friday. I believe the fuel hoses are on the bottom (or somewhere near the bottom. I haven't removed the floor piece to get a good look at the tank, but where the hoses connect to it, it feels like it's on top, but when I blew into the hose, the CO2 came up from the gas making bubbles. So it probably does suck the fuel into the hose either way.
I had someone blow into the vacuum hose and tried to see if I could find somewhere that could be leaking air out and found nothing on the tubes on the other side of the block. I haven't tried the cup idea yet, but I do know that when I try to start it, i visually checked the fuel filter (this actually the picture of the filter above) and there was no fuel in it. Lines were completely dry as well.

Well if the FUEL OUTLET is on the bottom of the FUEL TANK then I can see why no fuel is in the fuel filter and the lines. If you can take some pictures beyond the Fuel Filter that might help some. Alleyoop

Yes on the the other side of the fuel filter, is another hose that goes directly to the fuel tank. Fuel travels upward in this model for some reason. Which is why I don't understand why they didn't have an electric pump rather than a vacuum pump like this. I'll try to get a pic of tank where the hose goes into the tank when I can.
