I like the koso's they do make a difference the performance ones are usually bigger, lighter and have steeper ramps.

Some of the ramps being steeper would more than likely cause a problem with the angle of the belt right ?

For a 139QMB motor the stock variator is 87.5mm so IF the performance variator is not bigger in diameter forget it. In addition if yours has a BENDIX to electric start it you have to watch out when you get a bigger diameter Variator because if you get the belt to climb as high as possible on bigger diameter variator the belt will hit the BENDIX and damage the belt. Some of the ramps being steeper would more than likely cause a problem with the angle of the belt right ? I would want the clutch pulley and the variator to be of the same angle , if not the belt wil ware prematurely .

The ramps have nothing to do with the angle of the belt, the ramp angle in the variator determines the amount of centrifugal force(RPMS) required to move the weights to the top of the ramps.

Yes they do and the Hoca is also a great variator for the GY6 which you can get from Parts for Scooters. When I put the teflon version with the standard 12 gram rollers in my 150cc Lance Vintage it made an unbelievable difference in the bikes performance. I used their standard clutch too and made no other mods at the time and was running the stock black steel muffler. I got a solid 65 mph on level ground afterwards as long as you kept the fuel system clean and the valves adjusted.
I was putting about 150 to 200 miles a week on the Lance so it was also requiring the 500 mile maintenance to be done every 3 weeks and sometimes sooner. Since I was racking up all those miles I was using a fuel system cleaner and top end lubricant every 4th tank of gas to keep the valves free and the vacuum fuel pump able to keep up.
Don't go with Ebay when we have forum sponsors who provide quality products at reasonable prices along with great customer support.

IMO it's the best bang for the buck on a 150. I don't know about the 50's.

I had do do some research on the actual angle of the variator face just to make sure I wasn't going nuts " I realize it was the weight ramps that were being talked about " and I completely miss read the post . Here is a site talking about variators they have tested and a little ways down it talks about the variator face being flatter and at less of an angle then another ? I always thought that if this is true it would be harmful to the belt . I have two different Koso variators and it's hard to tell if the angle is different without measuring it but evertime I look at them they look like they have a different angle . The belt even starts higher in the variator in one . I guess u just have to be careful ordering your variator , there is no way to actually tell if the angle is different or off until u receive it . www.battlescootershopping.com/shop/page/19?sessid=rKqIdm0mQbzrbWD0JI1ai01cFV4FA0Ik6zszMEebuZoFUcs9H4HcGbxYGjALhWcG

If they play games with the angle of the drive faces and such so that they do not match the angle of the belt then you can be prone to grooving of the drive faces and/or short belt life along with more heat to deal with in the CVT case., They might have an initial "Oh Wow" factor when you first put them on but are really not that great an idea.

That's exactly how I feel . When it comes to the ramps , the stock variator that came with the new engine I bought a few yrs ago has more of an angle then the variator that came with the scoot . Of course just about everything that came with that engine was of a better quality then most stock scoots . It had a 115 mm drive face a keihn carb , bando belt , better voltage regulator.
