Hi everyone! I finally got the scooter to where it would start and got it all put back together. It sounded fine went for about a half a mile ride up the road and back. when i pulled back in and shut off the scooter it kept flooding gas out of the Carbuetor. The gas had some brown in it. Now it wants to die and doesn't feel want to start without extra power from a jump charger. the battery is brand new. once its running everything sounds and feels fine as long as you keep the throttle on some. Also, I was wondering why i would have two ports on my intake. one to the fuel petcock and the other runs back into the top of the motor. other than my two vent tubes.

howdy, nice to ride after working on a scoot. you probably have a bit of grit under the needle that the float shuts off. so probably you want to take the carb off and clean the grit out of it.
lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken

I noticed on many gy6's both 50 + 150 versions the 2nd vacuum port usually goes to the emissions/egr systems.
Seems they make 2 different air cooled versions, with and without egr (exhaust gas recirculating) valves.

Mine has all of the recirculating bits and the are all just running to open hoses. shalomdawg, thank you for the suggestion on the carburetor and i will promptly clean it. What would be the suggestion of just blocking off all vacuum lines and getting an in line fuel valve. I'm very used to turning them off on the motorcycles and wonder if the Vacuum petcock serves any function other than convenience? Thanks for the help all.

You cannot have ANY VACUUM LINES OPEN or things open THE CARB SYSTEM is a CLOSED SYSTEM except for the AIR FROM THE AIR FILTER coming in. VACUUM LINES are for operating things that need vacuum to open a diapghram to allow AIR and or FUEL to flow. It should not need any THROTTLE to keep it running so you have something not adjusted right, VALVES, CARB NOT ADJUSTED RIGHT and or VACUUM LEAKS. Alleyoop
A PICTURE of the CARB are with the hoses would help diagnose your problem.

also, after learning about the vacuum petcock it got me thinking. why would the previous owner put on a manual one in line with the vacuum one?

See the port at the top of the head ? That is a vent you need to run a hose from that port " mine is attached to my old air box " . U can tie it up and put a filter on the end to let it breath . If you don't you will have oil everywhere.

Also I see u have a fuel shutoff valve " very good " now see the gray fuel valve in the last pic u posted ? It works with a vacuum line . U can completely get rid of it " they are junk . Just run the line from your fuel filter to the carb and plu the vacuum line with a screw and tie it up . The float in the carb will automatically shutoff the fuel when the carb bowl fills completely . I've had mine off for 3 yrs.

You do know that the VALVE IS IN THE OFF POSITION RIGHT? Also the fuel filter is backward, the wider end goes toward the carb. You want the fuel to go from the outside of the filter to the inside and out to the hose to the carb. Alleyoop
