I was wondering if anyone else had this extra black wire running from their negative battery terminal directly to the motor. This is in addition to the green wire. Most grounds i have ever seen have more of a committed spot, this seems improvised. I couldn't find it on the wiring diagrams i have they only show a single green.

Best motor ground you can have. Remember bad motor to frame ground and your spark plug will not fire.

Direct ground on the motor is a good thing and can prevent many problems over the life of the bike. It could have been a last minute production change due to problems noted after they started manufacturing the bikes or something the dealer started doing to prevent one of the most common problems his customers were reporting from occuring.

All I have is a black wire going from battery to valve cover. Where does your green wire lead?

the green wire was running from the negative terminal and was connected to the whole system. it was connected to the main system of green wire grounds on the bike. It was actually the wire that ended up burning when i was trying to start with the electric start. I wonder if this could be why it burnt? Does anyone have both a typical ground and an additional green wire??

The one with the fuse goes on the POSITIVE TERMINAL of the Battery ALONG with a THICK RED wire that goes to the SOLENOID. On the NEG POST the GREEN wire and then to the FRAME. Alleyoop

Ok, I think I'm following what your saying. Does this seem correct on the concept.

Yes, you will have the WIRE on the VALVE cover in the previous pic FROM THE MOTOR TO THE FRAME, GREEN wire on NEG post coming from the harness and a GROUND WIRE FROM THE BATTERY NEG POST TO THE FRAME. Alleyoop
