Today I felt something a little odd when riding and heard a sound that was odd....the scoot kept running... Got to where I was and when I tried to start the bike the starter didn't engage... Figured the starter bendix was the culprit. Got the bike home and looked inside the variator cover....found a thick wire laying in there and at first though a clutch spring somehow let go but all three were on the clutch. At a loss here.... Oh yeah...the wire bouncing around in there ht the bendix and bent the spring cover...I took it apart and tapped the dent out of the cover....good to go....

Is that part of the kick start gear ? If I remember there is a metal piece that looks somewhat like that " but not all bent out of shape " I took my kickstar t assembly out a couple urs ago . So I m not 100% sure .

Yep look at the metal piece that raps around the middle gear and locks it in place . It is wrapped around the middle of the gear , " that's the part that's bent "

I think I will just pull the kick start out....never works right for me anyway.... The kick starters are only there if you need it in an emergency,,mine works ok,,but I can tell its made of glass, anytime I used it which was only maybe 3 times,,I would push down slowly until it was fully engaged,,then I would give it a nice smooth push with my leg,,seemed to work ok but made some slipping/crunching sounds once in a while

Thanks Rexxk... jerseyboy ever since I put the BBK on the kick starter hardly kicks at all..... 10-4 brother,, The GY6 has alot of compression for a little motor,,I was surprised how much compression they have,,I love the GY6 motor,,for its size its the best motor around HP and RPM wise..yup!! The Chinese should beef up the kick start assembly some though...

On the 50s with the kickstarter built into the CVT cover you only have TWO springs: so one of them is missing: Alleyoop
