When I first got my scoot and everything was stock I bought a couple replacement air filters because the old one was pretty bad . After I replaced the filter my scoot would bog around half throttle . I ended up having to cut an extra hole in the filter box for the mixture to be right . The air filter is very important not only to keep dirt , dust and water form entering the carb etc, but also to get your air fuel mixture tuned right .

Yup geh3333 is exactly right,, ATM I have 4 half inch holes in my filter box,,with a jet of 115,,if I drill a few more holes I might find a 118 to run better...the funnest part of the hobby for me other than riding is tinkering with stuff like that,,trying to fine tune the motor so it runs the most efficient. Its really a balance act

Luckily no major problems I couldn't fix .

Hey Guys, just wanted to update you. Found a hairline crack in the bottom of the intake manifold. Replaced it and now it runs like a dream. Followed the tuning video above and I think my problems are solved. Road it around the block and was hitting 35mph. I'm 220lbs so that seems about right? So.... What's the next way too add a little speed?

What's the next way too add a little speed? Good to hear you found the problem and got it working! 35mph is good on a stock 50cc with a 220lb rider. You might get a bit more by adjusting your weights, but not much. There is no replacement for displacement, so your next step is a BBK.
