after 2 weeks of welders refusing to warp the pipe i got fed up and bent it by hand. i know it was risky but it WORK! and 6 hours later and my new muffler is on. one concern aside from the fact it's loud as shat. is that it kind of putts when slowing down. it's not a back fire. it's just like pupupupupupupupupup. i'm not used to after market mufflers. is it normal? it's running great. not loss of power or sputtering.

well it's not random popping or sputtering sounds like i said it's just pupupupupupupupupupupupupupu. it's consent when not accl. i don't know if that is still "a popping sound." actually i found this. this is my model scooter and the same pipe and you can hear the pupupupupu i mean.

That is just the muffler baffles making that sound that is not popping so your fine that is just the way that muffler sounds. Alleyoop

Id do a plug chop. Anytime you change air or fuel flow it's the thing to do. It may not need anything but it's better to just make sure.

Like I said in my first response "IF" it is making popping sounds on decel it is a little lean. Don't forget all of a sudden the butterfly is completely closed and at that point it will run lean if not enough fuel or the idle is set to low allowing the Butterfly to close to many of the tiny Pilot Jet fuel outlets. So First check the IDLE it should idle 1500-1800rpms raise the idle a hair and try it. If still POPPING give the Fuel Ratio Screw 1/4 turn counter clockwise try it and do 1/4 turns until the popping stops. I put this together to diagnose what a motor needs depending on the sounds you hear. Yours is #2 Alleyoop itistheride.boards.net/thread/52/motor-sounds-tells

BACKFIRES IS A REALLY LEAN CONDITION. Since you put on a new exhaust Check your exhaust pipe where it attaches to the MOTOR. A leaking flange is a very common cause of BACKFIRES. Alleyoop
