got plates on my new 150cc Jonway and took it for a 4 mile trip. when i shut it down the exhaust was smoking around the brackets (i believe). is it normal for the rubber under the bracket to smoke really bad when new? i don't have time to do a plug chop until tomorrow but it seems like it might be running hot. i'm taking my atm50 to work tonight, if it is running lean i don't want to risk burning it up. edit: also, where is a good place to buy jets for a 150 and what size would i most-likely need? running at sea level 60- degrees.

ok, so i was convinced i was going to find 102 jet more or less but it has 108 main. so now i'm confused. i guess i will do a plug chop to confirm (or attempt to confirm). wonder if maybe it has a vacuum leak.

Yes if the rpms hang or drop slow it is LEAN, BUT, it is NOT your MAIN JET , when you let go of the throttle the butterfly closed immediatley and the Needle was dropped back down. It is running LEAN off your PILOT JET. So turn the Fuel Ratio Mixture screw Counter Clockwise, 1/4 turns at a time and then give the throttle a quick twist and let go after each 1/4 turn to test. Alleyoop the adjustment screw is covered by a copper colored cap. does that have to be drilled out or will that cap pry off?

got the carb off and drilled out the plug. easier than expected, their was a lot of space between the screw and plug so i didn't mess up the adjustment screw. just need to put it back together and adjust the ratio. haven't taken it on any long trips because it seemed like it was running lean. thx 4 the tips.

well, it's too difficult to get to the screw with my tools. i need a longer screw driver (or shorter) and i have to come in on an angle. gonna run up to the store and see if i can find what i need so i can get this thing running right.

I use the flip around screwdrivers 4 or 5 in one , I use the flip around bits without the handle .

The only tool from the crap-set they give you with the scooter I ever use is the little flip around screwdriver, and I only use it for the a/f screw because it is just the right size for the space I have between body panels and the carb.

it is so hard to get a tool in there that i can't even tell how much i am turning the screw. attempted to adjust it the other day and now it is worse than before. it won't go over 30mph, pulled the plug and it is a not so pretty white. i'm going to work on it later today, hopefully i didn't kill this scoot already.

bought a long screw driver from home depot and cut a small hole in the plastic so i could access the adjustment screw a little easier. think i have it set properly now but i still suck at tuning carbs. we'll see how it performs when i take it for a test ride.
