Does not matter how much your turning the screw. What you have to do is LISTEN to the IDLE as your turn it 1/4 turns at a time and wait about 10 seconds to allow the motor to adjust to the new setting. What you are Listening for is for the IDLE to rise as high as possible. If on the last 1/4 turn the IDLE does nothing then turn it back 1/8 of a turn HALF of the last 1/4 turn you did. That should be the point of adjustment that the highest idle was reached. Then test the setting Give the Throttle a quick full twist and let go. The Rpms should rise quickly and drop back down to idle quickly. Then you ride it and test it with a load on it. Alleyoop

Alleyoop i think i set it right but it still has no power and only 30mph top speed. i think something is seriously wrong. bent valve? idk, going to attempt to adjust the valves but i am thinking i may need new parts now. was running much better before i tampered with the carb. i don't know if it is something i did or if running lean for the past week finally broke something. i never rode it more than 15-20 minutes because i believed it was running lean. guess i shouldn't have rode it at all until i solved the problem.

You may have set it to RICH, try turning it 1/4 CLOCKWISE and try it see if it has a little more power. Running to rich will zap the power of the motor. Alleyoop

Alleyoop no improvement. i'm going to adjust the valves but i think it might be more serious, idk. just now i heard a very faint clicking noise that sounded more like a valve hitting the piston than the normal ticking of valves... but then again, what the heck do i know.

the plug looks lean yet. keep trying. that clicking sound you heard could also be detonation. are you using at least octane gas? if not then try that and see if the noise quits. but the main thing is getting it richer. it looks really lean to me.

help a noob understand that pics meaning compared to my plug... just now i changed to a 110 main. i know you said it was running lean off the idle jet but as white as that plug looked i figured it couldn't hurt to go up on the main. in the process of adjusting valves. major pain on this scoot, had to remove 3 panels to gain access. the plug looks lean yet. keep trying. that clicking sound you heard could also be detonation. are you using at least octane gas? if not then try that and see if the noise quits. but the main thing is getting it richer. it looks really lean to me. mobil

both valves were a little tight but the performance is still about the same after adjusting to .05mm. i guess i will pull the cvt cover before i remove the head. assuming i have it tuned properly what else should i check? i'm out of time today, i'll work on it tomorrow.
edit: would a compression test tell me if i have a problem with the valves? i might pick one up if i don't see any obvious problems after i pull the cvt cover.

The fuel delivery looks fine EXCEPT for your WOT trouble side. So putting in a little bigger Main jet will fix that. Alleyoop

Alleyoop ok thx, i went from a 108 to a 110 today. think that is enough? i also bought a 112. assuming the fuel/air ratio is now correct what else should i check? i'm thinking cvt and compression test. anything else i am missing?
