What is the longest distance you personally have gone at one time on a China Scoot? What size scoot is important. Personally I think 60 miles in about  minutes taking it easy on a Tank 150cc. |

I did 120 miles in one day, on a Vintage style 150 with 10" wheels.... Tank and a half of fuel (1 gallon tank)

One long run, or did you stop?
I am curious about long runs without stops.
I would like to believe mine could run in a straight line at 40- 45mph long enough to use a tank of gas (75 miles or so), but I am not betting my engine on it until I know more.

On the Znen 150T that I had I made several trips of 100 miles or more nonstop, quite a few 50 or more @45 - 50 mph.
On the YY250T a few trips of a couple of hundred miles @50 - 60.
(on my Honda Reflex at least 8 days of over 500 miles).

When I had my Xingyue Eagle 150, I made numerous trips and joyrides of 50 to 100 miles non-stop, at speeds averaging 35 to 50mph, with no problems. However, that WAS after I had made all the typical "reliability mods". I really liked that scooter even though it did do all the typical antics Chinese 150's are so famous for... LOL! Even with its problems, it was a real bargain.
Once I had it running properly, I rode it all over. I recently traded it on a well-used Kymco "Grand Vista" 250 because the 150 simply was not capable of running with today's traffic. I chose the old Grand Vista because it closely simulates the 150's characteristics that I like (flat floor, small wheels, relatively short wheelbase, etc.). But it will keep up with fast-accelerating traffic, and will cruise 70+mph. Really, the best of both worlds... (small scooter AND medium-sized motorcycle) it is pretty much either one, whichever I need at the moment.
So long as your scoot is reliable, it should be able to go as far non-stop as the fuel-supply will allow. Some folks who are in major urban areas with slower, congested traffic, take pretty long trips to work, shopping, etc. on a 50cc. Up to 50mph I found the 150 to be OK, but still short on acceleration in fast city traffic, and VERY short on top-speed when the local drivers run in packs at 60+mph in 35-45 speed zones.
It pretty much depends on the streets you ride, as to how far you are comfortable riding. If your scooter will safely keep up with traffic, you should be good for 75 to 100 miles or more. And then, you only need to stop to fill your tank, or empty your bladder... LOL!

in a couple months i will chime in with my personal longest. planning a 500 mile round trip (approx) from the east coast of florida to the west coast. i do plan to take a couple 30-60 minute breaks though. it's about 225 miles one way so i'll probably attempt 75 miles then 30-60 minute cool-down.

Several short runs and one 75 mile run. Once you do a PDI, and have a decent belt, it should do it no problem. I'd routenly ride mine 30 miles at a time, (every friday night to coffee with my scooter buddies)... You will be surprised how well the 150's hold up. I did over 7k in less then a year on mine before I traded it. And she's still going strong. |

I am glad to hear these scoots hold up better than expected.
I feel confident enough to do a long ride now.
I knew I was buying basic transportation around town when I bought it 6 years ago, and that is all it has done so far.
I think it will get a work out next week. Should be fun, especially after the tune up.

When I had the Lance 150 a 3 tank trip was the longest I took at about 50 to 55 mph most of the time.
On my 250 although its not Chinese I have taken it from St Augustine to St Pete on I4 at prevailing interstate speeds. A 600 mile day trip is not unusual.

I rode from L.A. CA to Amarillo, TX a couple of times in my 20's on larger motorcycles.
I wouldn't even consider a 3 day ride again now that I am 60 ;-)
I will do some 2 hour trips around San Diego through. The hard part about living in San Diego is there are no better places to go locally. San Diego is so nice it is hard to find a reason to leave town :-)

I did about 100 miles in one day driving up and down the beach rd. it took all day because traffic was heavy. The next day I could hardly move. The 50cc scooters just aren't made for comfort. :/

San Diego is so nice it is hard to find a reason to leave town :-) The biggest thing to remember on the GY6 150 is that even though it has triple the displacement it really does not have triple the cooling area compared to the 50 and can run hot on a long run especially at WOT where it would tend to go lean and run even hotter A number of forum members have burnt holes in their piston tops from running WOT lean on long rides especially on the long ride down from climbing a steep grade. The engine can get quite hot pulling up a grade especially if vacume is getting low and the fuel pump or petcock can't maintain flow and then running WOT back down with an already overly hot engine just seals the deal. Sometimes it is hard to resist not going for the 70+ mph on the way down but... |

If you are running WOT, you may need a bigger scoot. It is certainly a consideration.
Every machine has an optimum operating condition. If you want the scoot to last a while, you will find that sweet spot and not run WOT.
Your scoot, your call. Me I want this thing to be around and running until I get my money's worth out of it ;-)

Me I want this thing to be around and running until I get my money's worth out of it ;-) That is why I got a fuel injected 250. WOT and your talking  to 98 real mph. I now have 21,000 trouble free miles on the bike and would like to at least double that before any major repairs. On my Lance 150 which I bought used once I got it straightened up it maxed out at 65 and would cruise nicely at 55. When I added a hydrogen generator it gave me a bit more solid top speed but MPG stayed about the same most likely due to te extra electrical load. People were amazed at the amount of hydrogen that was being generated when they would see the bubbler working. |

I have gone 50 miles round trip,,25 up 25 back at 35-50mph,,ran like a top,,would like to try a 150 mile loop this summer,,Ill check back in and let ya know if the ole man had to come pick me up...LOL
