I have the same thing done to my cover. I didn't do it until I got an extra just in case.

Really unsafe to do that to the extreme in the picture. Just imagine a pant leg or the long skirt of a passerby getting caught in that belt when the engine is running. The thought of someone with long hair stooping to pick up something that was dropped next to a bike running like that makes one take pause.
Eventually you will have evidence of premature wear and tear unless you are regularly replacing clutches and tinkering just for the sake of it. Dust will get into the clutch bearings and spindle with the potential to score the clutch input shaft. The filter on the air inlet to the CVT that is supposed to be cleaned at every oil change is there to prevent that type of damage.
On the bigger bikes (250cc to 350cc) you won't be able to do that anyway as the CVT cover secures an outer bearing to give the clutch shaft extra support and you will destroy the clutch, clutch shaft and gear box if you remove it.

I would think this would just be asking for trouble, but some Zuma 125 owners run their scooters completely without the cover. They use what is called an "anklebiter" basically nothing but a small belt guard, with everything else open. Nobody that does this has had problems as far as I know.

Its called modding. I guess it is suppose to look cool. Depends on how you ride or where you ride. I prefer mine covered with factory vent in the front and a outlet in the rear.

I've put about 500 miles on my scooter with the same mod done and it hasn't caused any issue.

Just because you haven't got shot in the head yet playing Russian Roulette does not make it something to reccomend to others. Trust me if passerby gets hurt by it there will be a lawyer going after you with a very good chance of winning their case.

Not really that one does not have the entire face removed only some pie shaped wedges cut out in front of the clutch bell with a safety cage remaining to help prevent full contact with the moving parts.

i guarantee the count will be zero
i will go ahead and keep riding with my clutch on the open air and not worry about it

No worse then a lot of ruckus or custom choppers I have seen. You should see all the open belts flapping around during bike week here at the beach.
