just bought a new 2013 vip 50cc scoot. My daughter has a 2011 vip scoot. We both have the same scooter, but hers is faster off the line and prolly 5 mph faster then mine. I checked the rollers on my scoot, 5g same as hers. as far as i can see everything is the same. My scoot is lacking so much power that when i take off i have to sometimes put my foot back down to prevent from falling over. last night we went to the store, stopped at a light with a small incline. It could barley get moving. Both scoots are stock, hers just has a carb that i bought from a scooter store, mine still has the sealed carb. Her scoot does have the no rev cdi,i don't think the no rev cdi would give her more power off the line then mine? Could the carb be causing my problem? I did check my spark plug after 20 miles on the clock and i could still see the white porcelain, just a little bit of grey on the plug.

You are running lean due to that sealed carb. You need to either unseal it, or get a new one (they are cheap). You should have a nice coffee colored spark plug procelain, white indicates too lean. Running lean will not only affect performance, it causes your engine to run much hotter, and can lead to damaged pistons, valves, all sorts of problems.

You may not need to change the stock jet in a new carb, adjusting the air/fuel mixture screw could be enough. What I would recommend is when you buy your new carb, take off the bowl right there and check the jet size it comes with. Purchase one or two jets one or two sizes larger, then test them out with plug chops. Follow alleyoops carb tuning tutorial, and you should be fine.

This time of year check your tire pressure. Front and back. If it is low you are pushing the bike instead of rolling the bike. With small engines tire pressure means a lot. I also agree with the carb. How much of a weight difference between you and your daughter? This could be a little bit of why she is faster.

When I had my stock lean carb, accel was still good. Just lacked top speed.
If the scooters are identical I would start swapping parts between the two to find the difference.
You said accel is slow, what does the engine sound like when you rev it? It could be possible the stock carb wasn't adjusted accordingly before they sealed it.
