Hi All: I have a mysterious happening with my new ( 11 month old, 8 miles on it) Chinese scooter. Rode it uneventfully in Florida in November. Disconnected the battery and returned home to New York. Returned to Florida a week ago, connected the battery and nothing happened. When I say nothing, I mean nothing. No ignition, lights, horn, brake light, NOTHING. Charged the battery until fully charged and still nothing. Checked the fuse and holder, both good. Removed the cowling to expose the back of the ignition switch to determine if there is power to it. There is power to the switch. I know it's Chinese, but I thought it would last more than 11 months. Thanks, Grumpyjk

Did you maybe connect the battery wrong or by accident connected it wrong then connected it correctly? Also the fuse may look good but many are still bad Especially if they are the TUBE type fuses 10amp-15amp. If you turn on the KEU to ON the horn and some lights should work otherwise your battery is completely dead or the Fuse is bad. One more thing on the POSTIVE side of the Battery are you sure you have the THIN RED WIRE with the fuse on the positive post of the battery? Since you disconnected it maybe you did not see it laying there not connected. Alleyoop

I had to replace my original Chinese battery within weeks of buying mine forgot to hook up to battery tender and once it went dead no matter how much I charged it wouldn't start... Took and had checked said it was defective new battery fixed it right up

One other thing if you used a Battery Tender type charger that will not bring back a badly discharged battery you have to use at least a 2+ amp charger to Hopefully bring them back. Alleyoop

Doesn't your scooter have a kick start system? no battery is required to start your scooter with a kick start.

Check that the kill-switch by the throttle housing is in the on position.

Hi All: Just thought I'd post a follow-up to my problem with the Chinese Surprise. Problem Solved!! It turned out to be the ignition switch. Thanks for all your suggestions.

I was just about to post, that I had missed that you had said you had power at the Ignition switch. So it had to be that when you turned it on it was not making contact with the BLACK wire that feeds the systems on the scoot. Alleyoop

Can I add to this same thread another Chinese Mystery - at least it is to me. I have a chinese 150cc that i picked up just a bit over a year now. First I hit a pothole in downtown San Francisco and it knocked out the speedometer and odometer. checked cabling behind speedometer and it was tight. lubricated it and checked the hub. it was turning when i rotated the wheel. still doesnt work (been like that at least). shortly after this, it seems the turn signals died. for a while it worked but didnt flash - just stayed lit until i turn it off after finishing the turn. took it to a SF Mission area motorcycle shop and for over 3 hrs they worked on it , charged me over $100 to tell me the part i gave them did not work so didnt install, plus couldnt see anything wrong with speedometer/odometer (still doesnt work), BUT they discovered i had too much engine oil and bleed that a little. I dont go there anymore ever BUT i really need to get these items fixed. I thought for the longest time that while manually blinking the lights i could signal my turning intentions; i just looked a day ago at the turning lights and the turn signals do NOT light up at all anymore though NOT into scooter repair i have removed the scooter panels holding the speedometer several times trying to troubleshoot finding the problem for the speedo/odometer (unsuccessfully), and also the inside panel under the handlebars trying to FIND that turn signal relay (i have both parts for wheel hub and relay) but havent had luck finding where that relay goes. anyone know and can explain it to me? is it a diagram online i can look at? i can replace the relay IF i can find the burnt out (hopefully THAT is the problem) if i can figure out WHERE it is. i dont have the shop space nor tools to replace the speedometer hub though. thanks in advance. NOTE: am packing for a three-month visit to spain so if i dont answer, it's cuz i am out of the states - my wifi is (very) iffy while in spain

I believe that on that bike, the turn signal relay in on the frame, right side toward the back where the Voltage regulator and everything lives. As for the speedo, is the odometer working and the cable is good?

howdy, on that turn signal problem, you might try checking each bulb in the turn signals since a bulb out will cause them to not work at all--I think
lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken
