i replaced my fuel line and filter about 7,000 km ago. the hose i bought apparently was substandard and needed to be replaced again. not wanting to put too much more money into this scoot (since i'm saving for a new one) i bought 3ft of hose and skipped a new filter. figured i would just reuse the one i had. well, i noticed a small crack on one end. attempted to push the hose over the crack and in the process i broke the filter.
so now i am running without a filter until i get a new one. should i make this top priority or can i get by for a week or 2 (100-200 miles)? i tried searching google for info but came up empty. thoughts?

Your are probably going to try and sell that one so buy a filter. If something comes loose from inside the hose or tank it will plug up the jets and then you will have to do more work to get it running to sell. They are only a couple bucks Bro. Alleyoop

I agree as to what alley said. It doesn't take much to restrict the carburetor jet. And then when you sell it you add the "new fuel line and filter" to the list of goodies you've done to keep it a good buy $"

Alleyoop think i paid $6 delivered for the one that was on there. didn't anticipate a problem using the old one or would have ordered when i got the new fuel line. i'm going to put one on, just wondering if i should locate one locally and install tomorrow or is it not a big deal and i can wait for one to be delivered? meh, think i am just looking for an excuse to ignore it for now. i don't feel like working on this scoot much anymore.

Just go on down to the auto parts store and pick up this one. It's only about $3-4 bucks and they don't break easily. I use one and i'll bet it's the same alley uses.

Put the filter on.... If you let little things like that go, then you will have a bunch of little things you will have to fix later... and before you know it, your driving a piece of un-reliable junk.

I agree replace the filter. It is much easier than having to tear down a carb and find out where the speck got stuck that stopped you from running. Even less fun if it happens while your riding and you end up having to push the bike for very long or far.

Depends on how careful you are with your gas tank. A couple days shouldn't matter, just don't run the tank dry. You can get a fuel filter from anywhere, lawnmowers and other gas tools use the same type of filters and gas lines. Ive seen metal screen filters and ones that look like they have a paper filter in then. Never seen a filter on any scooter get clogged or needed to be changed after years of use, so you should be fine, but then again it could be just your luck for something to get through and clog the carb
