That really depends on the model. If the 250 uses the Honda clone, it's probably not going to have much room under the seat. I have a 250de, and there is not much room at all. The honda clone has the cylinder sit upright on the engine instead of laying down so the engine is a lot taller (but it bucks less).... Many of the bodies are set up to put on multible frames, so even if your engine is a Yammy clone, you still might not have alot of room under the seat. Again, it depends on the model.

Any suggestions as to which one has the most storage under the seat?

Not sure about the 250s but my 150 fits my full face helmet under the seat and closes. Tons of room under the seat and the seat is specially arched on the underside to fit a full faced helmet.

I know the Znen Roar has no room under the seat for a helmet, although you might be able to get one in the built in trunk. The Tank Touring 250de also doesnt' have the room either... (yes it was also marketed as a Jonway)

That sucks. Those manufacturers better come out with a model that has enough storage like a Suzuki Burgman. Burgmans can hold 2 full face helmets!
Say, anyone want to start an AMERICAN scooter company that offers plenty of storage under the seat and is affordable like Chinese scooters with me? Lol, I'm just kidding, but if anyone is serious about this, feel free to comment. It just might be worth investing....

A burgman is in a whole different class... If I get another scoot, it will be an X-9... That Freakin Piaggio's sweet man.... An no, you can't get a full face helmet under it's seat either (but it's 500cc of fuel injected thumper perfection)

Jonway YY250T (244cc, Roketa MC54/Reflex clone): Will hold a half-helmet under the seat, but not much more. I keep my laptop backpack case under the seat packed with a spare jacket inside, but that leaves no room for anything else. Any serious storage needs the trunk box.

speaking of underseat storage. i really wish dealers would list the measurements of storage space. would make it so much easier when deciding which model to purchase. do any online dealers list storage measurements? i haven't seen any. surprised to hear the 54B has little seat storage. i've considered buying that scoot but i don't want a scooter that doesn't have room for my helmet.

The other thing to be carefull of, manufactures change scooter configuration from year to year. An example of this, I have a vintage style 150, and so do two of my buddies... None of the bikes are the same. One has the tank under the seat, while the other two have it in the floor. The other has the battery under the seat pan on the frame, my battery and my other buddies batteies were under the seat (mine was relocated to the frame an it had a cage already welded in so I'd have more storage space). On the Shanke (touring 150de and touring 250de) both same year, same body, one's a 150 and the other is a 250. The gas tank on the 250 is under the seat while the gas tank on the 150 is in the hump. This makes sense as the radiator is in the hump on the 250. Smaller displacement scooters also seem to have more storage. My 150 has quite a bit of storage under the seat. The 50cc scooter in the garge was big enough to put my pumpkin sized full face helmet in but I can't on the 150. The 250cc has almost no storage space. I have enough for the stereo amp and a few tools. My Buddies 500cc Apprilla has no storage under the seat. Just enough storage for DMV paper work. Granted, that bike has nice Apprilla hard bags and a huge trunk but under the seat? Nadda. The Piaggio 500cc Beverly has a good compormise. Almost as much storage as my 150. The Piaggio X-9 (drool) 500cc has quite a bit of storage under the seat and includes a warning sticker saying not to transport pets in the under seat storage area (seriously) but You would be hard pressed to get a helmet in there. The Roma Hornet actually has about as much storage under the "tank" (actually it's over the tank) as my 150 and it's tall enough for a full sized, full face helmet believe it or not...

At least you get a helmet hook to hold you helmet outside. It seems the larger the bike, the less storage. '75 Norton 850 Commando can hold the registration and insurance card under the seat, if you have your own tape.

My Qlink has a good size trunk & a huge (will take a full helmet, armored jacket, map book, and Sunday paper)top box...but no storage under the seat. (Its engine access only.)

Well, my "new" old '07 Kymco Grand Vista 250 won't hold much under the seat either... NO surprise here. It will hold a half-helmet, which is what I prefer anyway, or, ONE hot Wally-World chicken (which stays nice and hot on the way home...) but it's very short on storage space. No "dash-compartment" and a small, shallow under-seat pan. However, the seat has a hydraulic lifter, AND a courtesy-light that comes on when it opens... Golly GEE! Who needs SPACE when you have automatic opening AND a light? LOL!
The obvious answer here is a B-I-G trunk/top-box. So I got the BIGGEST mother I could find. It will hold 2 full-face-helmets, or a poop-load of groceries. It also was just begging for full-illumination so I added a strip-LED brake light inside the huge fake wrap-around "light" lens. I also added amber strip-LED turn-signals in that thing, and it already had a built-in LED tail-light, so the trunk now has full-illumination right in the face of cars tailgating me. I like that, since cars following too close can't really see the factory tail-light, stop-light and turn-signals stuffed way under the trunk. When I hit the brakes, it lights up the whole interior of a car behind me. Tailgating drivers may not like it, but they CAN'T say they didn't see me!
I use my scoot for shopping and errands, so the huge trunk gets plenty of use. LONG touring scooters like the Burgman have more space under the seat, most likely because they are simply bigger than "city" scooters. There are some really nice, HUGE trunks available for less than $100 and they're well worth it!
My old Chinese 150 had quite a bit of space under the seat, and a small "dash-compartment" big enough to hold simple tools and a pistol... which spoiled me. The short Kymco has no dash-storage, and the engine is physically bigger than a 150, so the under-seat space is limited too. With my Kymco, Ya gotta have a trunk...
I also have a pair of large "throw-over" saddle-bags, and if you know you'll need more than average load-carrying capacity on a run, those are handy too.
Ride safe!
