Well everyone,
For the past 10 months, I have owned a 2012 Jonway YY T150–3 Chinese scooter. It was my first Scooter ever, and when it broke down, I could learn a lot from fixing it. I've replaced the spark plug, changed out the fuel filter, replaced a cracked muffler, performed my first valve adjustment on it, and much more.
I bought it from Powersportsmax.com in April 2013, And now it has 1350 miles on it. I am finally selling it, and Someone is buying it tomorrow.
I have bought a used Piaggio MP3 500 with less than 1400 miles on it from Lynnwood Vespa. Although it is sad to let it go, I know I will be very satisfied with my new MP3. that is interstate capable.
I'll be doing some major modifications on the MP3 500 to make it have more storage capacity, as the storage suffers from limited capacity.
Have any of you guys started out with the Chinese scooter, and then upgraded to a better faster scooter?

... Have any of you guys started out with the Chinese scooter, and then upgraded to a better faster scooter? I started with a brand new 1964 Honda CA110 "Sport 50." Later a Twinjet 100cc 2-cylinder 2-stroke, a DT175, a GS450E, a 500cc Silverwing in GB, '86 Honda Relex (street legal trials bike) and a Suzuki 652cc Savage. My first scooter is my a new Vespa LX150 in Oct.2012. My "Upgrade" was from a + mph 652cc cruiser to a 64 mph 150.5cc Vespa. Why I like this forum is that no one thinks anything is "better" -- just different.

Next time don't make it sound so dramatic. (I thought you were leaving IITR entirely) besides the Piaggio MP3 500 is a great step up. Enjoy!

Started with a Bridgestone 50 step thru in 1964. Then upon HS graduation (68) got drafted, married, raised a family, and divorced in 2000. Bought a Honda Shadow Sabre 1100 in 2002, a GL1200 in 2004, then a Magna 750. Had my accident in 2012 and now on a 300cc Zodiac

I started on the Piggy. My Harley friend warned me away from Chinese bikes, since I have zero mechanical abilities. Said I needed to get something reliable, like Japanese or Italian. Then I asked someone I knew who rode a scooter. He told me about Van Wall and their scooters ("Van Wall? The John Deere dealer??"). I pulled in and saw this gorgeous orangey-red BV and (typical woman) fell in love immediately. Although I did manage to bargain in a free helmet.
The MP3 400cc really tempted me though. I loved the idea of the duo-wheels. But I did not love the price tag.
Keep us updated how much you're loving yours!

I think you'll really like the new one!
I started out in the sixties with a Harley chopper and had about everything else until the late 70's. Then, no bike until 7 years ago when I discovered Chinese scooters. I got a Xingyue Eagle 150 which like yours, taught me all about fixing. I got it just about perfect last year, and finally couldn't abide its inability to stay with traffic. Local roads have changed so much that you absolutely MUST be able to run 65+ to keep from becoming road-kill.
So I traded it on a well-used '07 (same year) Kymco Grand Vista 250. Only had the Kymco a couple of months, but so far I love it! I chose that model as it was the closest thing to a step-through 150 that I could find with a bigger engine. I like the smaller size scoots, and due to arthritis I need a flat-floor step-through. The Kymco is just that. It looks and feels very much like the old 150, but will hit just shy of 80mph, and cruise at 70... yet still "scoot" in tight traffic.
That 3-wheel scoot you're getting is WILD... It will definitely turn heads, and will really move!
Ride safe and enjoy!

Leo - Yes a sub 350 lb 250 is a thing of beauty. Kids riding 650 cc sport bikes are surprised by mine regularly when I pull out from a stop or am cruising ahead of them on the interstate.
I started out on a MotoBecane 50cc then a Norton 850 got hurt in an industrial accident and then did not ride again for 30 years starting back in on a Lance Vintage 150 which was fun aside from the constant repairs cutting into riding time but it did get me back into riding. The upgrade to the Aprilia 250 got me back into a bike more capable of dealing with traffic here in Tampa Bay and a much more reliable bike that still isn't so heavy as to impact the degenerative bone disease that set in from my injuries 30 years ago. Spend my free time wondering where I will ride instead of figuring out how to deal with the latest anomaly with the bike. A 55/60/70 mph zone is not a problem.
