we had one nut wanting all companies, to make M/C helmets to be mandated to make anti fog visors by the govt. Absolutely fantastic idea. And people who say: Just give them more of an excuse to do so. If you don't like being legislated to, please feel free to move to a cave in the desert and love under a rock. Otherwise you're just making life worse for the rest of us. Ian EDIT: there's supposed to be another quote in the middle about insurance companies being scammers but pro-boards is rubbish and I can't get the code right. Sorry if its not showing up.

just because you like big govt to tell you how to do everything in your life, good stay where u r. i like the few freedoms i have left Do you also believe that speed limits, stop signs, traffic lights, taxes, emergency vehicle rights of way, disabled parking priority, criminal law, etc, etc, are purely there to restrict your freedoms, or are they there for a reason? I'm just trying to figure out which rules you like to follow, and which you don't. Of course, none of these rules exist in places like Somalia and Afghanistan. Maybe you'd prefer to live there and you wouldn't have to put up with all these damn restrictions that modern living impose on you. That literally makes no sense. Ian.

good luck, have a nice day Ask a straight forward question and..........."free thinkers" will fail to come up with a straight forward answer. I did give all my freedoms up to my government, for eight years. Now I only shave on days off, and actually have workers rights. Some people just don't know how free they really are. Ian

That nut was me, and it is a damned fine idea. There is no difference between somebody riding with a fogged face shield, windshield (bike, plane, car, control tower) and a drunk. You're absolutely insane if you think costs would go up considerably. The math just doesn't work. Safety SHOULD be mandated, when your failure to be safe could cost me my life.

Hmm, to keep my fog down I just lift my face shield a hair. There are anti fogging products out there to buy already if I feel the weather is too cold for venting the helmet a little more. Should it be an option to buy, I probably would. I'm not going to ask for it to be a law though.
I really get tired of being told that my judgement is not good enough, that the States should tell me what I have to do. For people that want to be told what to do I am fine with that, they are free to live someplace that the Nanny State does exist. My State is a big enough Nanny already.
Payneib, you left off the brackets around "quote" and "/quote" I fixed it for you. I fixed the color for you also.

Lifting a face shield can be frostbite for some of us, and it doesn't address the other issues. You're already being told what to do. Do you drink and drive? Do you take a hatchet to somebody who cuts you off? Do you walk into a store and just take what you like? I want you to be discouraged from driving/flying/riding while fogged up, not trust that you'll be responsible today and apply your own prevention. This is an easy fix to a big problem.

Hmm, to keep my fog down I just lift my face shield a hair. . That's all well and good until it buckets it down with rain. Or you're stuck behind a lorry shedding debris, or making spray. Then you can choose between a fogged visor and a face full of rubbish. Ian

Think about this. An insured group has 100 members and due to the medical payouts are being charged $1,000 per person annually for personal injury coverage. It turns out that 50% of the dollars payed out are on the more severe injuries sustained by the 10 riders who don't wear safety gear. Is it fair that other riders who do gear up have to pay a double premium to cover those that think it infringes their personal liberty to wear a helmet, jacket, gloves and boots? To be fair to the geared up riders their rate should be reduced to $500 and the gear free folks can opt in to ride gear free for $5,500 per year each. Makes insurance more affordable to riders who gear up and puts the burden of cost for riding without gear upon those who are incurring the greatest risk to the group.
