I have 2400 miles on my Honda Met and not had any trouble. I have been looking at the PCX but haven't talked myself into getting one quite yet!

Guess what everyone?
Just bought a used 2009 Piaggio MP3 500 with 1,400 miles for $5200 out the door!
I really like the extra stability with the extra tire on the ground.
Granted, the maintenance will be more expensive than maintaining a Chinese scooter but I really like the quality And it's a lot more powerful than my 150cc

(14,000km and climbing) always seems like something needs to be done to this scoot. i'm still happy with my scoot but it does require a lot of maintenance.

Yeah, my Chinese Jonway YY150 T-3 model needs the bolts tightened every 300 miles, And an oil change every 800 miles.

I ride a Znen, kinda surprised it's not in your list. Extremely well made, not a single place where things don't line up perfect, and hasn't given me any headaches yet! Puma is Znen its just a name game. I guess the Znen name is still not very well know (yet) Oh yeah, I have a Znen Zn250T-D aka the Roar, Titan, and under the Puma label the Apollo.

hey kxj, I'm jealous! You'll have to post a thread letting us know what it's like.
So far I've had zero issues with my Piggy, despite abusing it not driving it a whole lot and letting it sit for extended periods. I would expect the same for your "new" MP3.

Znen got too well known after 2007 when they were pumping out more bikes than they were able too and had a lot of quality issues especially with bad castings, bearings and ignition components. Lance almost went under because of the quality issues and dropped Znen going with Sym now to try and rebuild their reputation. Znen started Puma as part of the reimaging effort and it looks like they are fixing things. They did seem to be pushing it at first naming their scoots after celebrities. They had a pair of bikes known as the Elvis and Prisilla based on the Vintage/Heritage that it seems like they had to change to the Romeo and Juliet.

I noticed on Znen's website they list certain models as "patent" models, including the Q series (which I ride). Perhaps they are attempting to create a line which they won't allow re-branding on (the patent models), and still sell the other models through the traditional channels.
I agree various companies have had quality control issues over the years, but I wonder how much of this boils down to import restrictions. With the various import rule changes over the past couple of decades, and the increase in EPA restrictions, I imagine a lot of the strategy behind distribution channels centered around dealing with how to get the product to the market.

I definitely will one day. The only drawback to the MP3 500 other than the price, is the lack of storage room. It has less storage than the MP3 250 and MP3 400 series. I want to put side racks on it, and since no one sells them, I will have to improvise and perhaps weld it.
