I think a 150 would be nice, right now Fawkes power and gearing is more for in town driving, and hill climbing.. 50 is about his limit without grenadeing the engine.. But that's ok, and what i wanted this time..
Ill build another stroker some day, but honestly I'm waiting for the winter season to start, Motorcycle prices are at the lowest at that time.. And I'm wanting a bike i can do long long range Hwy driving.. Been saving my nickles and dimes, Literately lol, I have 4 large coffee cans and one 5 gallon water cooler container full...

ego plays a big part in it . apees him instead of pissing them off , let them feel like they are incharge and don't question them . Remember it takes two for a fight or other .

[replyingto=tvnacman]tvnacman[/replyingto]I agree, the place to fight a police officer is in court in front of the judge and with a lawyer at your side, not in the field... That will only get you in deeper...
There are so many laws the police officer can just pile them on knowing one of them at least will stick... Apeese his ego. and watch every thing, if your going to fight, court is the place..

I ride in town too and my modded 50s did well just didn't want to deal with the under 30 law my 150 gets around perfect in town at very little throttle less wear on the motor and can get away or even out run a cager in town if need be

Yup...
I think the cop liked your scoot! Once, back in the stone-age of my youth I got stopped on my "Big Bear Scrambler" MINI-BIKE. 5" wheels, 40" long, 55 pounds ready to ride... powered by a 30 hp McCulloch kart motor AND by a fluke in the Illinois law, STREET-LICENSED. He got my 16 year-old butt at 86 mph in a 45 zone. Being a consummate optimist, I challenged the ticket in court, telling the judge my "vehicle" certainly couldn't go 86 mph. He asked to see it, and I produced it from under the chair and placed it on his bench. After he, and the whole court stopped laughing, he threw the ticket out. The issuing officer was NOT amused. That little beast would actually top 100 mph and I rode it regularly on the freeways. Ah... THOSE were the DAYS! Hard to believe that was a HALF-CENTURY ago. Cell phones, home computers and such were still DECADES away. Life was simple, and very, VERY good. Illinois back then was "zero tolerance" with speed limits. You'd get a ticket for 56 in a 55 zone! (Even though traffic ran 65+) It sucked. Keep up with traffic, and if you looked young, or drove a noticable vehicle, you'd get singled out for a ticket. Obey the limit and you'd get run over. 30+ years ago, it took me a while to get used to Texas. In general, the police will " give you 5 mph, and let you take 5 mph" So you're usually fine at 10 mph over the limit. Unless you're in a school zone where the limit is enforced to the mile. In reality, speeding has increased SO much that on 35 mph surface streets traffic runs about 55 to 60. Local freeways now have 65 mph limits, and traffic runs anywhere from 75 (75 is OK with most cops...) to well over 100 mph with few tickets issued. Texas DPS recently checked the AVERAGE speed on a stretch of I-30 near "Six Flags" and found it to be 94 mph. I drive my Honda car there often, and at , I'm running pretty much with traffic, with lots of cars blowing by me at NASCAR speeds... Locals get OUTRAGED when a "crackdown" takes place, and cops actually start giving citations for more than the "allowable" 10 mph over the limit... LOL! THAT is why I'm letting my much-loved little 150 go in favor of something that will at least do 70 mph or better.Laws and enforcement in the USA are as capricious as the moonbat supreme court justices. Oh well, it still beats living in China... at least for now.Leo in Texas

[replyingto=oldchopperguy]oldchopperguy[/replyingto]I do think Fawke's performance got his attention for sure, but Fawkes is showing his age and miles, I try to keep him up as best as I can, but have not done much in improvements to him in a while....
I came here to Delphi and this job to fix my life, as it was nearly destroyed by two years of unemployment.. Every thing was a do over, I have been working now three years, and have begun repairing many things now that in the past i have let go.. Fawkes has been a huge help in that repair. But he too is showing signs of age and wear...
But I will not part with him, (I recently got myself a car, a 2004 grand am v6 2 door, paid cash for it. And em so looking forward to not driving Fawkes in an other winter).. So after getting my car, many at work asked me if i was interested in selling Fawkes.... My answer is no way.. He and I have been thru too much together..

Why would you abandon a faithful friend who saw you through the hard times? I don't know good question, I have had many ask if Fawkes was for sale since getting the car, but in truth i drive the car very little.. its mainly for winter and bad weather, and for long distance traveling, like to Fort Wayne to see my grand kids, or to help my mom when she need it shes 70 now.. The daily driving to the store, or work is done with Fawkes... Hard to beat 4 dollars of fuel every two weeks.. Nope ill not part with my old friend..

well I know what you mean Larry my car is getting about 16 or 17 mpg in the city . The scooter is about 65 , bad weather/cold riding is a dedication . I'm on the list for the Eilo it claims so in the city if it drops off to 50-60 mpg I can live with that . John

I once thought being nice to the police was the best strategy if i was hoping for "just a warning" I no longer believe that. I've always been friendly to the police, probably because my dad was NYPD for over 20 years. I once thought they had your best interest in mind....you know.."Protect and to Serve." Most people are terrified when the police pull them over. MOST WILLINGLY GIVE UP THEIR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS, because they believe they have no choice but to do exactly what the policeman say , and you'll have no problems. Especially if you have nothing to hide, which most don't. So you believe you have nothing to lose.
The police will ask you questions to get YOU to admit you did something wrong.
Do you know the speed limit? Do you know you were speeding. Once they get a compiling answer from you, they now have "probable cause' to continue. Never consent to searches. Never consent to being detained.
THE POLICE CAN LEGALLY LIE TO YOU
Plan on going to court to fight the ticket. The policeman was not able to show me I did anything wrong. I maintained my 5th Amendment rights. Hopefully the policeman who gave you the ticket will not show up in court...perhaps its his day off. No officer means the ticket will be dropped.
Here's a You Tube with many good suggestions

Well I'm going to say that I believe i handed it correctly, officer gave me a verbal warning... If I had handed it as in the videos, I'm sure i would have gotten a ticket...
I'm not saying the videos are wrong, I do know from personal experience the fishing police will do, and the lies they will tell to pile more on one..

I think you handled it right too. From what you've posted, the policeman seemed more interested in your bike than the speed he said you were doing. He didn't ask any of the typical questions that would have you admit to your guilt. (He may have, perhaps you just didn't post that detail)
I've haven't been pulled over in a long time, so I've never had the opportunity to follow the advice of these videos. But, I think it can be done in a respectful way. If the policeman were to asked me any question that are designed to have me incriminate myself of the infraction...I'd simply say, officer, I mean no disrespect to you personally or to the job you're doing , but, I have a greater respect for the Constitutions of the US, where it says I have a Constitutional right not answer questions where I might incriminate myself.
